Ok, so I got accepted to UCSC, but I have a question?

I have all of this done;
-60 units met
-meet the minimum gpa
-two UC-transferable English composition courses, a UC-transferable mathematics course, and four courses in at least two of the three academic areas of social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences, and the arts and humanities
4 courses in either arts, humanities, social physical and bio classes, meet all of them.

For the majors I put are cognitive science and alternative major is psychology. I have all the prerequisites done for the psychology major, but for cognitive science I am currently taking a class that is only required for that major. So here is my question I am planing to withdraw the math class that is only required for the cognitive science major. I am wondering if UCSC would take back their decision if I withdraw it.

I have contacted the office and one of the staff told me I did not get selected for a major yet. Or my selection was not based on any major i guess. So I have also written a formal message to admission if I should withdraw it or not. Lol its been 3 days almost since I have written them and no words as of yet. I kind of want to know their decision already. But I got to wait I know. So anybody has any thoughts of might happen?

I know I posted a question like this before but I added more details in this question.

I got rejected.
Major: Electrical Engineering
GPA: 3.2
Prereqs: would have been done by the end of this quarter except one class.

This is weird since a friend of mine with the same major was accepted and he has a 2.9 GPA.

Oh, well… SJSU here I come.

I got rejected for not meeting their criteria for junior level transfer as well and I’m wondering why. 3.35 bio major, major prereqs will be completed by spring, missing ochem & 1 physics class.

I also finished igetc and done eng and math requirements in 2012

Pupstar, I believe once you accept UCSC, You need to declare your major once you get there. I believe you can do it right then during the fall quarter, but must declare one of the majors before Winter Quarter. But they only ask that if you declare the major you must have the main pre reqs completed.

I got this exact same message about not meeting criteria for junior transfer. I have the units, 3.00 GPA for Computer Science, and all classes completed. I qualified for TAG in the winter so I don’t think I’m missing any classes. I did get a D in Calc 3 in the fall semester so my TAG will probably fall through, but I’m retaking that this semester. I had to check the portal to see this message, never received any email.

@pupstar: I think ucsc is pretty anal about grades this semester. If it’s not a prerequisite then withdrawing would probably be better than an f, but I’m not 100% sure. I think you did the best thing by writing admissions. Good luck!

Does anyone know if an error on the application will get your admissions revoked? I accidentally named the wrong city for my previous college but both cities have the exact same school code. Anyone, Bueller, Bueller?

@dinamita I just got the same message and I don’t understand either! I have no idea how they calculate GPA, by my UC transferable calculation I should have a 3.02. Finished all pre-reqs, only bad grade was an F in Astronomy circa 2004 that brought my GPA down. Who do you call to ask about the reason why? Admissions?

I just called and they told me I didn’t have enough units. How can they miscaculate? They claimed I had 58 units. I mean how can ucsd calculate one number and ucsc another? I will have 61 units by the end of spring. They told me they they were going to take a look at it and give me a call back.

Just got a call back and they said they’re right that i only have 58 units. So UCSD and I are wrong ? They told me to appeal. I find this crazy and unprofessional on behalf of UCSC. How can they miscaculate something like that?

What class do you think didn’t transfer over?

Who do I call with concerns about applications? Admissions was only an automated menu.

I honestly don’t know. I mean I know i have something like 68 units but only 61 are transferable. I guess i’ll have to look at my transcripts. If I do only have 58 i’m pretty sure ucsd would have also caught it. It sucks having to go throught an appeal proccess by a mistake on their part.

Nthleo call admissions press option 5 and then option 5 again.

I think all uc’s transfer different courses. So Im guessing ucsd calculated a course that ucsc didn’t. I’m sorry man, that sucks.

@nthnleo: call admissions and push 5 twice. That’ll get you to a person

No, all uc campuses are the same. A ‘uc transferable course’ transfers anywhere in the UC system.

@ChronoCross
I did accept UCSC already and I read that to in there website about declaring the major once you get there.
@drdoolittling
I just got an email where they want me to fill out a form called, ADMISSIONS
Schedule Changes/Academic Update of Grades. I wonder if this is a good sign?

@dina…oh ok. It must have been the csu’s that were like that. Then hopefully it is just an error that will be fixed on their end. That is super annoying.

@pupstar: sounds like a good sign to me. If they’re giving you that paperwork instead of saying “revoked” there’s always hope. Good luck!

@drdoolittling
I hope so, I really hope so. Thanks.
