Hey, y'all!

I'm currently a first year at UCSB and I was hoping to transfer to either UC Berkeley or UC Davis for Fall 2014! I've been panicking a crazy amount lately and I'm not sure if I have a good chance at Berkeley, which is a dream for me, to be honest. It would also allow me to be closer to home and my mom, who, after losing my sister to cancer in 2007, is taking me leaving home a little hard (as am I).

STATS!
Intended Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.815 (hopefully I can get a 3.85 this quarter! as of right now, it's a 3.78)
EC's (Do high school ones count?): Internship at law office, internship at psychologist's office, (if HS counts) published author of a novel
Jobs: waitress, receptionist, tutor, assistant at radio station

You are pretty much in UCD with those stats. Cal is always random when it comes to their admissions, but just keep up the GPA and try to add some recent EC’s to throw on your application.

you should be able to transfer to berkeley pretty easily if you maintain your gpa through fall quarter 2013. make sure you have all you pre-requisites done and you finished all of UCSB’s general education requirements (so you are exempt from berkeleys GE’s when you get there).

call berkeley and set up an appointment with one of there counselors to go over your transcript and see exactly what courses will match with there’s and what you still need to take. you should be able to do this pretty easily since you live next to berkeley.

your reason for transferring is one of the most warranted reasons for transferring…make sure you tell them that in your meeting and in your application in november.

good luck.
