uc to uc transfers

Hey,
My girlfriend and I are going off to college next year, but I will not be going to the same UC as she will. Depending on my scholarship options, I will be going to UCLA or UCSB. She will be going to UCSC. What are the chances of her getting a transfer into UCLA or UCSB after two years of UCSC? I know it can be done, and it is hard, but if she maintains good grades will she have a good chance? What kind of things do they look for when reviewing transfer requests? Do extracurriculars help or is it basically about GPA and courses? Any information on the subject will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Courses and GPA are of prime importance. Make sure, and I mean 100% sure that the courses she is taking are the ones that fulfill the requirements at UCLA/UCSB. I would call UCLA/UCSB admissions and compare course by course which ones work and which ones don’t. Many people get rejected because the UC they want to transfer to nitpicks on UC-to-UC course compatibility. It would be better if she did this before actually taking the courses. Also, she’d probably need a higher GPA for UCLA than for UCSB. Extracurriculars are important but emphasis goes on GPA and courses. Hope that helps.

I’m looking to transfer to Berkeley from Davis and have been constantly emailing the econ and ps departments there. However, they will not evaluate courses until AFTER you get the admission decision. Sumtin wrong wit dat.

UC to UC transfers have higher priority than transfers from other four year colleges and universities but lower priority than CCC to UC transfers so she will probably need to maintain a UCSC GPA at least as high as the average CCC transfer admit to her major at UCLA or UCSB.
