Could everyone who gets in post their stats?

History major, 3.7 GPA, 4.0 major GPA, IGETC/major prereqs complete -
I am so relieved, guys... you have no idea!!! :)
3 down, one to go...

Anyone get into UCLA?

just got admitted to ucsd,Eleanor Roosevelt College...

Finally got my big letter from uc irvine...and still trying to decide between santa barbara and santa cruz......... a super tough decision to make......

I got into UCSD, Warren College

My stats:

4.0 GPA
Political Science major
Phi Theta Kappa, tutor, etc.

I cried when I saw my Berkeley big envelope last Sunday. I was out all weekend (I was at the NV/CA PTK Regional Conference - was anyone there?), and when I got off the car around noon Sunday, I saw the big envelope in our mailbox. It was blue and it said "Berkeley" in pretty gold letters. My brother was cleaning his car, and I took the envelope from the mailbox, looked at him (he was beaming), and I gave him a hug and I cried. We both cried. This is how huge this is for me, for us.

Anyway, let me post my stats again here, because if my story isn't a success story, I don't know what is. There are people here with higher GPAs than I do, but my major is not impacted, and I was really, really lucky, too. Still I believe that I deserve my spot. :)

3.54 - Molecular and Cell Biology;
62 units in 3 semesters + 1 summer (started Spring '04);
Finished all assist courses except physics, which is only "recommended";
took general chem 2 and organic chem 1 in one semester (got B and C, respectively);
will NOT have finished IGETC (i fulfilled essential skills instead);
22 years old, migrated from Philippines in 2002;
ok EC's, not a club officer or anything, tutor at learning center, work 20 hrs/wk;
ok essay (i think it's just okay).

To everyone that got in to whatever UC it is that they got in to, CONGRATULATIONS!

To those that didn't get in to a school that they wanted to get in to, I urge you to appeal. There are many students who got in to say UCLA who will decide to go to Berkeley, or vice versa. There will be available slots. Michelle, for one, will have to decide on whether she wants Berkeley or LA, and when she chooses one or the other, that's another slot for you English majors. I don't think I got in to UCLA (they still didn't have a decision as of two minutes ago), but if I do, then my slot is yours.

This has been a great ride, everyone. I think even if I didn't get in to Berkeley (or Davis, for that matter), all the anxiety would have been worth it coz I got to meet such great, dedicated people like you. The UCs are sooo damn lucky to have us. :)

Aww, congrats, biochemist12 -- that is an great story and the sweetest post I've seen on here. Ever. Your family must be so proud of you!

Hope you've been out to celebrate!

:)

Sabrina, aw... thanks :) yes, we went out to this great Chinese restaurant Sunday night. My Dad outdid himself with the spending. He's usually very thrifty, but that dinner was also our sorta celebration for his new job (he has been hired by Bechtel Corporation to work in Amman, Jordan; part of an Iraq "reconstruction" project). He leaves mid-May, I believe, so I'm gonna be really sad coz he can't come to CalSO. :(

biochemist12,
CONGRATULATIONS!
sounds like u were pretty calm at handling it..
when i got the news,
i was SCREAMING my head off..i mean, killer screaming :P

biochemist12, you really deserve Cal...congrats and keep up the hard work !

lilomui, thanks and congrats to you too! i actually found out at the hotel where the conference was held. my school was the host (we won a lot of awards, too :)), and three of us from our chapter who were there applied to Cal. I was the only one who was jittery because I was the only one who sooo wanted badly to go to Cal (one of them has her heart set on UCLA already and the other would rather go to Davis). Finally they grew tired of me going "OMG I'm so nervous," so they made me and the two others go to our hotel room where we had, supposedly, an internet connection. But apparently we didn't have wireless, and we didn't want to pay for the broadband connection, so we just decided to wait until we got home that night (I wasn't planning on staying the night). When we went back downstairs, I was beginning to get nervous again. Then one of the regional VPs set up his laptop right beside the registration table that we were manning, so we went to his table and asked if we could log on really, really quick to check. And so I went to the website, typed in my application ID and password, and then this popup comes up, the "do you want this computer to remember this password" thingie (my other classmate who was also waiting literally jumped at the popup, it was funny). So I clicked on NO, and then... I saw "Congratulations, Alva," and I yelped for joy, and everyone at the other table, my chapter-mates, all screamed "YES" and applauded! I got hugged by everyone. Then the two other girls got in too so we had to do all the hugging and clapping three times.

That was a greeeeaaat feeling if I ever knew one.

HHHAHHHAHA WOW ^_^ Your story beats mine, ahahaah!
Were u one of the ones that stayed up literally all night the day before? lol!!

That's the hard part... the "keeping up the hard work"... ;)

Indie_boy, thanks. :) I know you wanted Cal, too, but UCLA is a WONDERFUL place also. I still haven't heard from them but I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna get in coz biochem is impacted there, plus I'm missing physics, which they require.

Oh, my heart is so bursting. I love you guys. gets teary-eyed, sniffles

lilomui, i checked at midnight, i checked at 7:30am continuously until 10am, i arrived in school at 11, cut my math class to check until 12pm, i went to bio, checked again at 1pm, left for the conference, then finally checked it at 4:30-ish. that's when i found out.

That's so sweet.....I just got a call from Berkeley on my cell about a couple of hours ago. Asking me if I wanted to attend something in LA for Berkeley, however....I bought so much UCLA apparel that if I were to go to the event in LA, somehow they'd....know. You know when one dog smells another dog on you? lol

Well, I am excited for the people who re excited. Not that I am not excited, I am just realisitc when it comes to Financial Aid, housing options, etc....there's a lot to consider!

Question: If I were to go to Cal, I just don't think I could afford the housing! It's around 847-957 a month, without meals, am I right?

BruinMichelle, what are the off-campus apartment rates in UCLA ? If you share an apt with some1 is it cheaper than the dorms?

Does any1 know the avg rates (off-campus apartment) near ucsd?

anyone wanna switch college with me Im in ERC eleanor roosevelt!

Indie-Boy, It's on the Housing page, as you recall which you can access off the Admitted Students link off the oft-accessed Admissions page.

I belive you look up University Apartments-North, and on the right hand side is a menu which contains a link for the rates. They're a wee-bit high as well, but when you consider free utilities and a kitchen, it's not as bad as being off on your own and it's "relatively" close to school.....

However, the apartments do seem on the old side, if you ask me. Does anyone else have anything to offer regarding apartments at UCLA?

Indie, it is cheaper than the dorms......because you don't have a meal plan, but then in an apartment you'd have a lot more room than a tiny dorm room, if that matters to you as it does to me....lol.
