I'm going to transfer to a UC from my CCC. Most likely Davis or Irvine. I'm 17 right now, so when I transfer as a junior, I'll be a month shy from being 19. I really want to be placed with the incoming freshmen in the residence halls instead of the lonely apartments. Is this possible in any way? I heard rumors about people under 20 being placed with freshmen.

anyone? lol any info would be great.

The “under 20 people” statement you mentioned is not true. In fact, many of the UC’s actually allow incoming transfer students to live in the dorms/on-campus housing for their first, or Junior, year and with your age being as it is, this may actually be an advantage for you to get into on-campus housing (you can imagine they don’t want a 26 year old transfer student rooming with a 17 year old freshman).

For senior year, however, you will most likely need to live in the apartments but by this time you should have a good idea where the places you would like to stay are, you should have made plenty of friends on campus in similar situations, and you should be able to request these people as roomates. This will certainly help make the apartments not quite so “boring” for your senior year at a UC.

Hope this helps.

That helped a lot. Thanks!
