UC Davis Transfer Housing Demystified

I just got off the phone with a UC housing representative.

I asked her this: “Do all transfer students who want to live in on-campus residence halls get put into Castillian Hall?”

Her answer:
“If a transfer student is BELOW the age of 20, they will likely get put in with freshmen.
However, if a transfer student is 20 or above, they will AUTOMATICALLY be put into Castillian Hall in Cuarto, with NO chance of getting into Segundo or Tercero.”

She said there was no way around it, it’s entirely based on which group a transfer student is closer in age to.

Since I’m a one-year transfer who is 19 years of age, I will be able to get into Segundo or Tercero, but all older transfers MUST live in Cuarto (specifically Castillian Hall), she said.

Hope this clears things up.
