@gimmethesun I’m in the same boat as you in that I picked UCSB without doing any research. I really want to transfer to UCI but I’m not sure if I should leave UCSB and go to a CC first or just stay here and stick it out. Could I get an update on what you decided to do and how things worked out? Thanks!

@cinnabon1234, UCSC has a complicated GE reqs…especially the Disciplinary Communication one. Did you manage to complete your GEs?

@theunderdogasian From what I’ve researched, you don’t need to complete your upper div GE’s before transfer which the DC requirement usually is

I am a freshman at UCSC…considering withdrawing after this quarter to go to honors transfer program at CC and try for Berkeley. I’ve heard it’s much easier to get into Cal from CC than from UC-UC…is this true?? Want the best chance of getting in - should I stay at UCSC for 2 years or go to CC?

Hi @uctocc ! I’m still at UCSB, but in the process of filling out the admissions application for UCLA, UCI & UCSD UCSB just isn’t the right school for me… so I’m really hoping I get accepted within those three schools. But in order to prepare, I’ve been taking a lot of GEs and I’ll be able to complete them by the end of Spring quarter and I’ve finished the prereqs for my major as well.

Are you still at UCSB too and if so, do you plan on staying? Let me know what you decided to do! Hope everything worked out for you

@jrlewke Cal definitely discourages intercampus transfers. If your main goal is to go UCB and you’re not enjoying your experience at UCSC, switching to a CC would be your best option.
