UC vs. CSU

Hey CC,
I know that a discussion regarding UC vs. CSU has come up before, but I was wondering if things have changed.
I am looking to major in Accounting and was wondering which California University system is best in starting a career in the business world. I'm interested in the school that will provide the best resources for entry to the business world, such as program wise, intern/career ops,
Money is an issue for me which is a particular reason why I am considering CSU's.
I am talking about CSU's like SJSU, LBSU, SLO, and SDSU the more higher ranked ones against the whole UC system.
Basically tell me your opinion why one system, or certain CSU's are better than certain UC's or vice versa, is better than the other. Please don't say "because it's a UC," but if you do really explain why it is important the diploma have that title.
thanks!

UC’s are more theoretical and good for those seeking further education post-grad whereas CSU’s are very good at preparing you for the job market right out of college. If I was going into strictly accounting, I would be content with a CSU whereas if I wanted to get into ibanking, I’d do everything I can to get into Berkeley or UCLA. The big 4 from my knowledge recruit from all the UC’s (I think except Merced and only 3 recruit from Riverside) and they recruit from most CSUs.

IMO Cal Poly SLO is the best CSU and I would rank it about even with Riverside in terms of business. Now if we were talking engineering or something…that’s a different story. All the UC’s have very good business programs outside of Merced which doesn’t have one to my knowledge but they have an economics program.

Rankings should not influence your decision entirely though. Look at what you want to do. Accounting is something that can be done at a CSU and you will be very successful. The Big 4 love recruiting business undergrads with a strong knowledge of accounting. If you want to get into the Big 4, you will need to meet the 150 rule as they will expect you to take the CPA exam after some work experience. Also to get an interview, you need a very good GPA as it is competitive. The starting pay is okay but really ramps up after you get some years under your belt.
