Hey I'm a first year community college student getting ready to transfer soon and I've narrowed my search down to UCLA and UCSB. I want to go into accounting and I have researched that both schools are recruited by the Big Four. I'm predicting that my GPA will be around 3.9 - 4.0. Do I have a chance in getting into UCLA's Business Econ major or should I just go to UCSB's Bus Econ. I heard that UCLA's classes are much harder. Is it worth it to go to UCLA?

Im going thru the same thing i want to major in business econ and my two choices are ucla and ucsb also. I would go wit ucla because i think there would be better career opportunities in la then sb. Wat career did u have in mind????

I was hoping to minor in Accounting and get a job with the Big Four.

Doesnt really matter then
I would go to the school youd like more
i mean even a lot of ppl from CSU's get big4 jobs

the big 4 from the SF bay area recruit heavely from Cal Poly SLO. i would imagine the salaries are very high in sf. like said above it dosent matter both of those would be great. ucsb would provide as awesome college exp.

wow, what about SJSU? do big4 heavely recruited in SJSU? Because if i stay in silicon valley, i know big4 heavely recruited in santa clara U but ita tuition cost is high:-( .Besides cal poly SLO and santa clara U, any better options for me? Is SJSU good if i'm aim at big4?

Doesn't anyone read or do searches on this forum? PLEASE go to the top of the forum and read the featured thread: "Everything you want to know or should know about accounting." It notes that the school you attend doesn't matter as long as it is accredited. Please read the first post in that thread.

Yes I have read that thread and I looked up the AACSB accredited schools in California for accounting and the only ones that are accredited are CSUF, USD, SDSU, SCU, and USC. That leaves out UCSB, UCLA, SJSU, and CPSLO. Why are they not accredited?

i went to sjsu freshman year and i found that a lot of ppl go to big4
aim for 3.5 and its pretty good chance

i dunno about now though, if they are still recruiting at the same pace as before

UCSB, UCLA and SLO come right behind USC for recruiting......even though they are not accredited

Accreditation has three components,of which two are optional. There is the primary accreditation that many schools have, which is the most important. All schools mentioned by you have this.

Secondarily there is the AACSB accreditation for its business school, which isn't as crucial but very nice to have. If you want to go to a AACSB accredited grad school , attending an AACSB undergrad will give you a big edge.
All schools mentioned by you including UCLA, UCB and USC are AACSB accredited for their business school in general.

The third and newest form of accreditation is AACSB for the accounting program. This is nice to have but isn't essential yet. For recruiting, it probably makes no difference as of now to get this last accreditation.

i am a business econ major at ucsb and doing accounting

1 we are accredited

2 according to the big 4 reps who are at the school almost weekly a C+ avg at SB is weighed the same as a B+ at SC, as a recommendation the accounting classes at SB are not easy by any stretch especially when you factor in the econ theory classes you are req. to take which can be extremely tough even with a solid calc background. If you are worried abut going to SB and getting an internship or job with the big 4 just know they crawl around the campus looking for quality people and I would agree with the 3.5 UCSB GPA will prob get you an interview. LA and SF reps recruit pretty equally here too so you have shots at both locations
