UCB: ACT Science vs. Subject Tests

Hey guy, I’m in 11th grade and I’m planning to apply to UC Berkeley (CompSci) and I took the ACT and got these Scores:

E 33
M 31
R 32 <---- Total fluke
S 25 <---- who knows -____-
Composite: 30.25

IDK if these are important >AP Comp Sci: 5
>3.9/4.0 GPA

I’m pretty sure these scores won’t be sufficient for out-of-state admission. I don’t know whether I should take the ACT and try to score higher in science section or take the SAT subject tests in science because I don’t feel my ACT scores reflect my knowledge in science. Thanks everyone!

UCs do not require SAT subject tests. For some divisions at some campuses, specific ones may be recommended, according to http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/requirements/examination-requirement/SAT-subject-tests/ .

For Berkeley, CS may be done in either the College of Letters and Science (starting undeclared, declaring L&S CS after getting a 3.3 GPA in the prerequisites) or in the College of Engineering (as EECS). L&S does not use SAT subject tests; CoE does recommend math and a science, but EECS is probably significantly more selective in frosh admissions than L&S.

As an out-of-state student, have you run the net price calculator to see if you can afford Berkeley? There is a $25,000 additional out-of-state tuition that is not covered by financial aid.
