Hello all, this is my first time posting on here and I have a few questions regarding UCB’s Public Health program. Btw, I am currently in my first year enrolled at a CCC.
-As a prospective public health major, what other extracurricular activities should I get involved in that relate to my major? So far, I am currently working on health projects and volunteering at my local clinic.
-How competitive is it to get into UCB’s Public Health program?
-Are admissions more likely to accept a 3.9 GPA student who has taken the minimum number of pre reqs (chem, bio) than a 3.8 GPA student who has taken more pre reqs (chem, bio, anatomy)?
Appreciate the help!
I am not knowledgeable about the public health program at UCB. It seems like there is not much a difference between a 3.9 vs. a 3.8 GPA. I am guessing you should be fine.
Hey! So I don’t know much about UCB Public health but I am a Cal student and based on what I’ve heard, a 3.8/3.9 are both fantastic and I honestly don’t think having one or the other will hurt or help you. The public health program is impacted for undergrads and based off of GPA and classes taken, not sure for CC students. Keep in mind UCB does holistic review, meaning they look at your application in its entirety, so if you had a choice, I would bump up involvement in stuff you’re passionate about (that will really shine in your essays) and maybe get some leadership in!
