UCB spring or UCD with 6,000 grant?

im having a tough choice deciding which college to attend

i got into college of letters and science for spring semester at berkeley with 2,000 scholarship for spring semester (i plan to apply to Hass in second year if i do go here)

i also got into Food Science major at UC Davis with an annual 6,000 scholarship

i really dont know which college to attend, right now im leaning toward Davis because of the money and i am interested in food science major, also Davis is an upcoming college and i heard that the campus is beautiful, however berkeley has the prestige and this makes it a very tough choice

your thoughts would be appreciated :)

UCDAVIS all the way

First off, remember ultimately you will be the one to make the decision..

Second, you should visit the two universities if you haven't done so to get a general feeling of the campus, and participate in the overnight host program. According to your figures, the difference is $4k each year between the two. If you are willing to work part time during the semester, there are many on campus jobs which pays $10+ an hour, and you can easily earn $1-2k+ in a school year working 5-15hrs a week without hurting your grades (it's mostly some of the free time you will be giving up).

go with your gutt. If prestige is all that is drawing you to Berkeley, you might just want to go to Davis. If you feel you already have a specific major in mind and have that yearly grant, it's a hard opportunity to pass up. I personally am also applying to haas. however, I can't help but ask myself "Bus Admin as a major? Where's the focus?" If you feel you know what you want to do in life and Davis can get you there. Go for it.

anyone else want to comment?

I feel you hestitation, sonic pwc.

Go visit the two campuses, and try to talk to their current students. If you really care aobut prestige, then UCB is your choice. But HASS is not easy to get in (58% admittance rate).

I also try to decide b/w UCB (will pay 40K for the first yr) and UCD (regents scholarship). But my Asian parents will force me to attend UCB.

UC Davis is more quiet in terms of the area

Berkeley is close to San Fran and in a city.

That could make the difference. Thats why I'm choosing Berkeley even with a great scholarship to Davis.
