I am really confused. Many say that this is a bad thing, others say otherwise. What is the purpose of UCB Supplemental questionnaire? Does that mean I'm almost rejected and this is the last step to save the day ?

The Supplemental is given to three types: disability, talent, and borderline.

If it’s borderline, it means you still have a chance in being accepted because by now UCB already separated their applicants to accepted, rejected, and need more info (supplements). Only 3,000 students got it this year. So, yes it is a good thing because it means you still have a chance on being accepted.

I, myself, am on the same situation as you. I received the borderline supplement.

Thank you very much for your information. Do you have any idea how much spots are filled already? And how are they gonna pick from the 3000 people that received the supplements ?

trantan, rather than worry on things that you cant control, take it very seriously and answer the ucb supplemental questionnaire to the best of your ability. one of my S friend last yr was already regretting applying for UCB, thinking he did not have a chance and just wasted $. then came this supp Q. he made it. i know several kids too who were asked to submit these and were eventually accepted. it is a good thing. good luck!

My daughter answered the supplemental and was admitted fall 2009. We felt she must not have been on the borderline because they give borderline kids spring admission.
Good luck!

Is it true that if you are offered an interview, you have gotten accepted? Everyone has said that so far but that seems sorta fishy…

interview for what? if it is for the regents scholarship selection, then yes, you are admitted. those finalists have the benefit of learning their acceptance early.

Whether is is good or bad probably depends on how strong a candidate you thought you were. If you thought you would very likely be admitted, then you would probably be disappointed to find out that Berkeley apparently thinks you are borderline. But, if you thought that your chances were not that good, then you would likely be happy to receive the supplement as it is an indication that you still have a chance.

when will we know if we got the interview for regents? Is that only for in-state?
