Hi, I have heard from a lot of people saying that it is really important for transfer applicant to finish the major pre-requisites. And I wonder what exactly are these pre-requisites? I have tried to search online but couldn’t find them. I am a second-year math major in UCSB and I am about to finish the preparation classes for my major here, will that be sufficient? Thank you so much for answering my questions!!
The lower division courses listed here should be considered the major prerequisites:

https://www.math.ucla.edu/ugrad/majors/math-major
You will have to figure out the course equivalencies yourself if you are not at a California community college. California community college students may use http://www.assist.org to find course equivalencies.
Thank you so much. That is very helpful! So how can I figure out the course equivalencies? Should I just email the math departments at Berkeley and LA?
You can compare course descriptions (in the course catalogs and/or math department web sites) to see what topics are covered in the courses at your current school and those at the schools that you want to transfer to.
