do u have anything to back it up
l;ike besides stats.

the stats are pretty much damning, there was a guy before that said UCLA actually posted their stats based on race, i can't find it but hopefully he reads this and posts the links.

my point is that this is happening, and from personal experience i know people from school, some who are benefiting because of it, some who are getting screwed because of it.

to bottomline it, kevin (the poster), if you are white or asian, get a little more anxious, if your black or hispanic, feel good

and here be proof

http://www.allanfavish.com/1_10_95.HTM

wingzero im not arguing with you. just wanted to know where your coming from. but i'm hispanic American so whoooooppppeeee .

That article you posted was from 1995, three years before affirmative action was discontinued.

ya i thought the same thing too.

oops didnt realized the date, sorry about that

and sandkicks, im asian if you were asking, but i remember seeing your stats, they are about the same as mine, so like i said before

feel good

lol :D .....ethnicity doesnt factor

oooook here be proof and this time its after prop 209

those results are affirmative action era...furthermore we're talking about undergrad/transfer...not med school

i have a feeling whatever i show you youre just going to say its not true.

prop 209 passed in 96, this 97

if they can do it in med school why would they have any inclination not to do it for all admissions?

the new changes were not enforced until 1998.

i have no desire to contradict you in everything you say, but i believe that the effect of ethnicity is neglible. Underrepresented minorities have a decreasing population trend in the UCs and medical schools after prop 209.

I was just requesting some info that could more relevant, in terms of being more recent and are related to the UC undergrad group that we are interested in.

Alright... let's settle down to a compromise:
In fact, many UCs offcially announce that: selection is NOT based on race to ensure no discrmination occurs.
On the other hands, UCs also want diversity, and may be this is correlation to your point that race factors into the process. This indeed might be a CORRELATION, NOT cause and effect. Thus, it is wrong to say that you can get in easier because you are this or that race (cause-effect= no in this case) but you might be getting in with higher acceptance rate and it happens that you are this or that race (correlation= possible).

"You'll be getting a lot of acceptance letters"
Thanks Anonanon for your kind words... I hope to receive acceptance letters from all the schools i applied especially UCLA, UCB and USC! :D

haha i predict that you'll get into most, if not all of them. Engineering is a tough major and your GPA is high for it! i hope you get in

Thank you for your kind words, hobo!
Good luck to all of us who are transfering!

Hey, many of your predictions come true!!!!

I have been accepted to:
UCI, UCSD, USC, UCLA and UCB!!!!!

I thank you once again for having evaluated my chances!
