I was admitted to Cal w/regents and UPenn, and am having issues choosing. Will one give me an edge over the other when applying to grad school? I'm planning on majoring in Biological (physical) Anthropology as an undergrad, and need some help deciding.

I looove Berkeley…
and have finally SIRed :D

But if I had your choice, Id go Ivy League all the way!

whats your financial situation like? If picking UPenn means tons of student loan then I would say Cal all the way. If you are looking at similar costs or money is not a factor, I would pick Penn. I chose Berk this year over Brown cause of regents and costs and am excited for Cal!

I got rejected by Brown, or I would’ve gone in a heartbeat :(

^ its a cool school. though in my case it would have meant 100k or more in loans. no school is that cool haha

Biological Anthro? My friend chose Cal over Brown for anthro/bio.

Someone I know chose cal over wharton(upenn)! I thought he was crazy but when I visited him in berkeley a couple of weeks ago and saw how happy he was at cal I understood why he made that choice.

If you are applying to PhD bio programs, definitely Berkeley.

Berkeley’s MCB program is top notch, and I have known 2.8 GPA MCB grads to regularly get into top 10 PhD prograns in Biology because they had a Berkeley MCB lineage.

But if you want to go to Med school, UPenn might be better because their grades are more fluffy and Med Schools care about GPA only. Med students from Cal regularly say that Cal MCB was much harder than Med school.

I also chose Berkeley over Wharton. I was pretty happy at Berkeley. After graduation I worked in JP Morgan in investment banking and at various hedge funds afterwards. But to choose Wharton over Berkeley (where getting into Haas requires you don’t party lol) it makes sense too.
