UCD Chances PLEASE HElP!

I kind of screwed up in high school, but I still want to get into UC’s so I would really appreciate if someone advised me on my chances in gettin into UCD and ALso UCI or UCR.

GPA so far: 2.6 (im a junior, schools almost done)

SAT I: 1520 (I have only takin it once, but am going to take it again and estimating that I will get above 1900 because of some practice SAT’s that I have taken)

SAT II: Planning on taking US History and Math 2 (maybe also Physics)
Estimating that I will get 620 on both.

I have 9th grade basketball, and have 3 years of one club and going there next year too so 4 years. (One year Treasurer and the other year Vice President)

I have one D but am retaking the class which will put it up to a B atleast. So no D’s.

I have taken Ap Euro and Ap US and plan on taking 3 AP’s in my senior year.
I have also taken a couple of honors classes (Chem H, Physics H, Eng H, etc.)

Based on this, please let me know what my chances are of getting in. THanx :)

Weigh your GPA and I can help you out for UCD. For UCI, it's going to be a little difficult due to your GPA and test scores. As for UCR, you may have a decent chance.

^read this or forever hold your peace.

Im pretty sure my weighed GPA is like 2.7 or 2.75

10% chance i say

let's say that I bring up my GPA to 2.8 before the junior year ends, then how are my chances for UCD, Irvine, and Riverside.

P.S. And also maybe for Calstate Fullerton, IN CASE I dont get accepted to UC's.

Chances don't matter, they're so random with admissions although I would guess that you woudldn't get in. Just apply. Nothing we tell you here will change whether or not you get in, besides telling you to write a decent essay.

Uhhh..id be worried about your grades considering the minimum gpa is 2.8..and they might be raising it to 3.0? i think unweighted...

2.8...thats depressing..

I think they are raising the minimum unweighted GPA to 3.0 for fall 2007 applicants.

im screwed if they do. Also what major you apply with affects your chances too right? so what if I go for a realestate major or sumthin and then change to engineerin if i get in.

Yea I heard they will be raising it too. I was expecting your weighted to be 3.2 or something. I guess not =(. You need a 3.0 to qualify. If you don't, no need to worry. Go to a community college and do that TAA thing to garuntee your UCD transfer after two years (if you meet the requirements by then).

well, iono about next year but i can tell you that this year alot of people in my class got in with those stats
i cant explain why, but it seems that my class did extremely well
i would say over 40 people in UCLA
20 UCB
50 UCSD
but with UCD its over 100
and some of those people did not get above a 3.00

with UCD and UCI just get your points
look at the point system and do all you can
like take an extra course

also for your gpa i hope you only included 10th and 11th grade

I'd say reach. I know somoene that had 700s SAT (out of 1600) but 3.3 gpa weighted and had internship and clubs, and his family was Vietnamese refugee, and he did not get in, but his essay was not very good. Good luck to you though.

the gpa i said at the beginning was 10th and 11th. Also nobody answered my question about the Calstates, do you think I have a gauranteed acceptance atleast their suppose if I dont get into UC's?

UCs, unfortunately do not consider your 9th grade or 12th grade gpa (not even 1st semester, unless it ends before December) You definately have a shot at UCR, UCM, UCSC though. I would think you will get into at least one CSU, though I am not familiar with them.

man, so I guess my chances for UCD or UCI which are the MAIN schools that I want to go to, are pretty bad then huh.

Don't give up hope yet, you can always transfer. I am actually trying to transfer from Davis to another school, many people have transferred to Davis with gpas barely above 3.0. However, it is advisable to go to a community college first to transfer to a UC, because many have agreement programs with UCs (IGETC and TAP). Do a search on the Transfer forum for more info.

wf909, you're definitely in for UCR, UCSC, and UCM. UCSB and UCD, i'm pretty sure you're in. UCSD and USC are maybe's, but your stats are pretty good.

also wf909, please stop posting the same question in multiple threads. we'll get around to your question, we don't need to be spammed with it.
