Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
I feel that my essays are what got me admitted because of how much it revealed the person that I am. I did not say: here’s what I did, how I did it, and how did I fix it/change, rather I delved into how it shaped me to the person I am and continues to do so. I was very personal and bared my true feelings into each essay. I also related each essay back to my major and why I am a perfect candidate for my major, Sociology. (Some recommend not to do this because you have an alternate major and what you talk about may not relate to that. However, if you’re passionate about your major, go for it and be very personal and show the type of person you are.) Also, I was in the top nine percent of my school, (I was 8%) but as long as you can be in the top nine percent, the likelihood of acceptance should increase. The classes that I took were very rigorous as well. In all four years of my high school , I have gotten A’s in every course, every semester. I also recommend to be very involved in school activities and join as much clubs that you are interested in.
Classes I took:
Advanced English 10
Honors Math 2&3
Honors English 11
AP US History
AP Calc AB
AP Statistics
AP Literature
AP Government

General Comments:
Start early on your UC application future seniors! They open in August, but let me tell you, I waited until the last TWO days to write my essays. But if you can put the thought and feelings into completing the essays, then it doesn’t matter if you spend 2 months or two days. Just be you. Also do your scholarships, I’ve been lacking lol. Any future freshman, sophomores, juniors, get involved in school and get good grades! Hard work truly pays off. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t have a high test score, as you can see from my low 1220 SAT, you can do it. I was accepted into UCD (my dream school ;)) UCR, UCSC, and UCI. If you are UC potential, the admissions will recognize your hardwork and effort. Good luck future UC applicants and soon to be students!
