UCD renown faculty and alumni

I noticed UCD doesn’t seem to have much info this, but what are some professors teaching at UCD that are well-known and renown in their fields and involved in cutting-edge research?

What about alumni?

Dr. Klasing has written numerous scientific papers and articles on comparative animal nutrition, and is renown in his field. For example, he wrote an entire book on comparative avian nutrition. When it comes to nutrition, he’s an expert on it. I’m currently taking NUT 123 with him and he’s a brilliant professor.

Dr. Mitloehner is not only involved in animal production, but is also an internationally renowned agricultural air quality specialist and environmental engineering, and he serves as the chairman of the UN livestock emissions committee. His research has set new livestock operation regulatory policies of the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board.

The late professor Max Kleiber (which Kleiber Hall was named after) came up with what’s called Kleiber’s Law, which basically says that an animal’s metabolic rate is scaled to the ¾ power of the animal’s mass. It is widely used in comparative animal nutrition courses today.

Dr. Schore co-wrote the organic chemistry textbook with Dr. Vollhardt that is used in the 118 Organic Chemistry series and from reviews, is apparently an amazing professor who knows how to make O-Chem easier for students. If I had known he was a professor at UC Davis, I would’ve taken at least one of the 118 series with him.

Anyone know anyone in the Social Sciences or animal behavior?

Former UC Davis professor and veterinarian Dr. Sophia Yin has written a book on dog behavior and training, and every quarter, she sends out an email to the Animal Science Advising Center asking if any volunteers would like to help her. (unfortunately I’ve been too busy to take up a volunteering opportunity with her)

Here’s a list of other renowned/famous professors at UC Davis:
