Hi I’m currently a full time community college student and I trying to tag for fall 2020. My major is cognitive science which I’ve been told is non selective. My current gpa is a 3.8 and I have completed both my English’s and math. However I will not been done will have the courses listed on assist. I was wondering if that would affect my tag. I would not have completed two courses, calc 3 and one bio class, plus the classes my college does not offer. I was just wondering what my chances were because I am not 100 percent sure of the classes I’ll be taking in the spring so is it alright if they change? Thank you.
There is no such thing as “chances”. You either qualify for TAG or you don’t.
The TAG requirements are at https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/transfer-admission-guarantee/criteria/ and for cognitive science there are not any additional selective major requirements. So from reading the online material it looks like your TAG will be approved assuming that in addition to the math and English that you mention that you meet the “four courses from at least two of the following subject areas” requirement in the “UCE, UCM and 7-course pattern” section
You should confirm your TAG eligibility with TAG contact at your CC as listed in http://tag.ucdavis.edu/contacts.cfm They are there to help you.
Are the Bio and Calc 3 classes are major requirement for your Major or just recommended? If a major requirement, then these should be completed before matriculation.
^^^ This brings up a question the OP should pursue with with their CC counselor. The TAG requirements don’t say, that I can see, that for non-selective majors all the major requirements must be completed in order to be admitted under TAG. But confirm with the counselor.
You will have to take them if they let you in once you are a Davis student. And if they are a prerequisite for further classes in your major then your graduation may be delayed. Davis says
