UCF Honors College with USF Med school option - With plenty of AP credits.

I have already taken 14 AP classes and I got mostly 5's and some 4's. It looks like UCF will transfer most of the credits. I am going to puruse the UCF/USF med school option. If I transfer all my credits, I can graduate in 2 years, I guess. If I do it in 3 years, still I may be bored. May be, I will go London for 1 year as a transfer student. What should I do? I am applying for several IVY schools and other BS/MD programs as well. UCF seems like the best deal for money, location, and weather. I am from Orlando. :)

Double check on your AP credit w/ med schools. D’s at UF (brother’s at UCF). And she’s gone back and forth w/ the idea of med school (degree is ChemE with biomolecular engineering for minor). Anyway, she learned from reading the UF pre-med info that med school’s won’t count AP’s in place of pre-req courses unless you take another class past it. For example, you can AP out of Bio I or Bio II, but make sure you take a Bio class to show that you can do it. If the med school requires CalcI, you just can’t AP out of it. Make sure you take Calc II or another Calc past it. Understand? For instance, D tested out of Calc I and Calc II w/ her AP Calc B/C 5. As an engineering student she still needed Calc III, plus DiffyQ, so she covered the additional math past the AP class. I would confirm with a pre-med advisor b4 you try and AP out of everything w/o making sure you are taking the classes you need to fulfill the pre-med requirements for med schools.

That was probably clear as mud … I hope not. :)

Yes, for pre-med you’ll have to take Bio 1 and Chem 1 again since it is very highly recommended. They don’t want to see you AP out of those. They’ll give you the credit, but will probably strongly recommend (i.e. make you) take them over. But for engineering, like Zebes says, you can still use your Calc I and II credits (I also scored 5 on the AP Calc BC exam, hehe).
