UCF honors question!

So I was just accepted into UCF. I checked my application status, and it said that I was offered admission for the fall 2012 term.

However, I did not see anything about the honors college. Does this mean that I did not get into the honors college? I sent UCF my ACT score of a 28, and was going to send in the 30, but I got my acceptance letter before I sent in the 30 ACT score. If I send in this score, could I be re-considered for honors?

Honors sends out notification usually within a few weeks after admission. If you have a higher ACT, I would go ahead and send it out. Not sure what they’re looking for, in terms of stats, but I would say a 30 is quite good. :)

Send the new ACT score because you may get offered a Pegasus scholarship with that ACT score! I was told that they send out Honors applications (yes, you have to APPLY to the honors college separately) a few weeks after acceptance letters go out. I figure that if my son dosen’t get one in the mail by November 1, he will go online and request one. I hope the Honors Application Essay is not ridiculous. Do you remember Zebes?

Seiclan,

I don’t know if things have changed. S got into honors in 2007, and D got into honors in 2009. In both cases they received applications within 2-3 weeks of acceptance to UCF. Neither one stressed on their essays. The topic was broad enough that S used his UF application essay and D used her GaTech application essay. Each knew their stats were very good (for example, D 35 ACT/ 4.0 u.w) so they didn’t stress over the essay. I have no idea if it’s changed since then or not. I think both went with the idea their stats would carry them, so the only stressing that occurred was Mom making sure they got the application in quickly. Good luck! As you know, S loved Burnett, and I think being in UCF honors helped with his law application. :)

Hi! I just got accepted as well. Go on the website and email Burnett. They will send you an Honor’s College packet in the mail to complete. Good luck :)

DS got the UCF Burnett Honor’s Application in the mail yesterday and we/he had not even requested it. I was surprised that it came before the paper/snail mail acceptance letter. He has until January 15th to get it in to be considered for the extra enchancement scholarship (of an extra $1000 for freshman year). He will do this app over Thanksgiving break since he has the week off of school and the app has to be hand-written (it is not online).

I got the letter today.

I think I’m eligible for a Pegasus scholarship. Should I wait till they award me one and then mark it on the Honors application and submit it, or should I try and get the Honors app in as soon as possible?

I don’t think that it matters but I would get it in by the January 15th deadline for the “bonus” scholarship. My son intends fill his out and send it over Thanksgiving break (he has the week off of school).

Aren’t we eligible for all scholarships then? How do we know the breakdown? If we don’t know do we not check anything on the app?

A friend of mine’s son filled out his the other day and they call UCF to ask about it. They were told that it didn’t matter if they hadn’t heard yet on the scholarships, Burnett knows that and they will also know what scholarships are awarded (when that happens). If you are unsure, call them!

How long did it take you guys to receive the honors application? And what were your stats if you did?

^^My son received the honors application on October 1st (and he got his paper acceptance to UCF on October 4, 3 days later).

He has a 4.3 UCF GPA and 1430/1600 SAT.

I just got mine today. 4.0W 1320/1600 cr+m

Would being fluent in a unique foreign language such as Russian help my chances of admission into the Honors college?

Yessss lol
