UCF Housing

Online classes DO count for summer credit. I would think it would be an easy enough requirement to fulfill.

Thank you @Trisherella , that is very useful information!

@jeneric
The summer hours are mandated by Florida. I’m not sure how oos works since we are in-state, but I do know it hasn’t been a big deal to fulfill for my 2 kids. They definitely can be online classes and it doesn’t matter which summer that are taken (with exception of the summer before they start, if they are accepted for fall18, I don’t think they can take any class summer 18 because they really aren’t in ucf yet). My d took what is known at ucf as a “lecture capture” class and just had to go to campus to take her 3 tests. My s took 3 online classes over 2 summers. These classes, online or physical, can be taken thru any school in the Florida college system( I don’t know if others school’s classes count). Please know if you take a class from a school other than ucf, you will have to go thru a “transient student” process. This is to make sure that the class will be accepted by ucf!!! It can take several weeks as it goes thru a few departments for approval but it isn’t a difficult process…just be sure to allow time for it. Also keep in mind that there are some rules that kick in about the last certain amount of hours that must be taken at ucf…this is in the catalog.

For those that go thru a transient student process and have bright futures, you will have to pay your transient college, request a transcript after the class is completed and then ucf will put it thru to BF for refund thru your student account at ucf.

I hope this helps.

If you look on ucf website under housing, you can see floor plans of all the dorms. Go to cost section to see price, but know that the housing rates for the next year are always very late in being posted. However, I haven’t seen an increase in 3 years, I was told if they increase it won’t be by much.
I have never heard that freshmen are not allowed at northview, but it will require shuttle service or a car as it is right off campus…beautiful place with lots of room choices.
Check out the floor plans, 2 pillows indicate full/queen…1 pillow is a twin…lol.
Feel free to ask me more or call ucf housing they have always been very helpful.

@jeneric
Exceptions are SOMETIMES made for summer hours, but don’t count on it. I heard your student has to come into ucf with a set number of hours for this exception. Check with undergraduate admissions.

@ufmomfriend Thanks for all the info. Very helpful, I passed along to my daughter and she will follow up when she gets there!

Go Knights! Charge on!
