Just wondering if anyone knows the next step as far as getting a place in line for housing. My son was just accepted at UCF (which we really like), however he is also waiting on FSU (tomorrow) and UF (February). He doesn’t actually have a first choice yet, as he wants to go to accepted students days at the schools. However he has paid a housing registration fee of $25 at UF to hold his spot in line (not a deposit), and I know if he gets into FSU he’ll need to actually pay a deposit, which gets mostly refunded if he doesn’t go there. (I think they keep 50 or 75 of the $250 deposit).
However, the UCF thing is not as obvious to me. I don’t see a small registration fee (like UF’s), and when I read up on the housing deposit, it seemed like they were all about “binding contract” that could only be released with certain “exceptions” such as military service, study abroad, internship, etc. Nowhere was mentioned “going to school somewhere else.” (which is explicitly mentioned in the FSU situation.)
So I’m wondering if UCF expects you to NOT apply for housing in any form until you’re SURE you’re going there. Or maybe I’m missing something. I read somewhere that you’re eligible for housing if you’ve paid an ENROLLMENT deposit, which seems very premature at this point.
Anyone know?
