Whittaker just stepped down most likely due to current investigation of misappropriation of funds. May make teh decision to go to FSU easier.
It was a misappropriation of funds used for a UCF building and the staff responsible were fired. The Florida legislature has been misusing education funds for decades.The incident, while unfortunate, does not warrant calling into question the quality of education at UCF.
It is sad imho. Whittaker was a great president and I don’t think his team did anything that warrent’s this treatment. It is not like they personally gained anything from building a building with money that was suppose to be spend on operating expenses. I think they badly miscalculated they level of political grandstanding that some legislators are interested in pursuing.
Thoughts on whether this might impact the school in the next few years?
State is probably using UCF to set an example and perhaps a bit harsh but lesson learned the hard way. Don’t misappropriate funds, duh.
