I'm a bit confused as to what AP Exams to register for as that's coming up. Could someone please guide me as to how many credits I'll receive and what exams I should register for? I would appreciate it greatly!

Biology (5)
Calculus BC (3)/AB(4)
Environmental Science (4)
European History (5)
Human Geography (5)
Macroeconomics (5)
Spanish Language (3)
Statistics (5)

This year, I am taking in school Physics B, US History, and World History. Should I take those? How many credits will I receive?

I'm using this link, but I thought it was pretty confusing to follow:
Advanced Placement Credit | The College

Biology (5): This’ll place you out of the bio requirement for the Core, unless you’re a bio major. If that’s the case, then this will place you comfortably in the advanced introductory sequence.
Calculus BC (3)/AB(4): Nothing here, though you may place into a higher math through the placement test.
Environmental Science (4): Nothing.
European History (5): 3 quarters elective credit! Woo!
Human Geography (5): Nothing.
Macroeconomics (5): If my understanding is correct, you can only get credit for this if you also take Micro.
Spanish Language (3): Placement out of the language requirement! Woo!
Statistics (5): Stat 22000 credit and placement out of the math requirement! Woo!

All 3 of the classes you’ve listed will get you some kind of credit: Physics B will get you 2 credits and get you out of the introductory sequence, and US History and World History could get you 3 quarters elective credit each.

Thanks OxalisWombo!; I’m retaking calc…and I’ll get a 5 on BC…some things came up the night of the exam which resulted in stupidity on the exam…

I plan on majoring in economics, so if I take the Physics B and get a 4+, do I have to take any physical science courses? I also think I lost credit for stat because they require statistics courses.

“NOTE: Credit for no more than six electives may be gained by examination.” Does this mean six quarters of elective credit, or six exams?

My friend at UChicago also told me that placing out of Econ 198 is really difficult and taking it would boost my GPA so there’s no point. Can any econ majors shed some light on this?

I’m taking AP Physics C this year, and I will hopefully get a 5 in both Mechanics and E&M. However, I’m planning on being a physics major, and the AP credit page seems to imply that the test won’t count towards the physics classes I need for my major. Will a good score help me at all?

UChi2016EA: Six quarters of elective credit is the max. With a 4+ on the physics AP test, you’ll have placed out of all your science requirements.

cloudless: Because you have to take 131-133 or 141-143, not 121-123 as these scores would give you, taking the test would not seem to give you any distinct advantage. I’m not sure if you forgo the elective credit in this case, however.
