UChicago Chances

Hello world! I am a college freshman currently taking a meager 3 credits so I can transfer to a university in the spring! However, I’m applying to UChicago as a freshman for ED and I’m completely alright with waiting another year to go to college. I’ve always been really good at school and I never needed to study to get an A, but now that I’m out of high school I really wish I would have studied just so I could have a better overall GPA.
I took Honors Algebra I in 8th grade but opted to take it again freshman year because I had switched schools in the middle of 8th grade and was afraid I wouldn’t pass my state exams (they were super easy I wish I would have just taken them in 8th grade). I took Honors Algebra II my sophomore year. I took AP US History freshman year, and AP World History sophomore year. I took all my junior classes and senior classes the same year and graduated a year early. I Took AP Macroeconomics (I never took micro but no one told me I should probably take that before Macro lol), Honors Chem, Honors Geometry, and the rest were regular English classes and electives. I wanted to take more AP and Honors classes for my senior classes but my school wouldn’t let me. I had to finish all of my junior classes by the end of the first semester in order to receive my senior classes and then once I did that they informed me it was too late to enroll in any AP or Honors course (: I really wish they would have told me that before so I could take more AP Junior Classess!!!
In the class I was originally supposed to graduate with I was in the top 10 percent but for the class I actually graduated with I was in the top 25th percent, they were way more competitive!! I graduated a year early with a 4.0 GPA and took 21 classes my junior/senior year. I was also on varsity track and field and received my letter in marching band. I participated in chorus as well.
The reason I am only taking 3 credits worth of a college class right now is because last minute, I decided to change my major and the university I was going to didn’t offer it so instead of going off to school this semester I enrolled in a community college with the plan of transferring to a university in the spring. I never really considered UChicago an option because it’s such a grand school, but after I visited a few weeks ago I fell even more in love and got a boost of confidence. I want to major in History and Economics and eventually work towards a doctorate in history. I plan on interning for the CIA or Department of State regardless of whatever schooo I attend. I really want to be a public servant after college. I’m also working on an art collection currently with the House of tudors as my subject.
I think the UChicago essay prompts are so challenging and they really inspired my creativity and I’m so excited to submit my application!
I also got a 1340 on my SATs the first time around but I’m taking them again this weekend and hope to get a higher score. I’ve read a bunch of posts online and a bunch of SAT test takers agree that the August 2018 SAT Reading/writing section was whack
What do you think my chances are? This school is so amazing and every time I’m on campus I feel like I’m capable of anything and all I want to do is bury my nose in a history book. The architecture itself is amazing! UChicago itself has changed history just by existing. If it never were, many of science and health’s greatest advancements could have never been. I think that’s why I love history so much, because one choice that was made differently could have produced such a drastically different timeline. I’m also very interested in astronomy and astrophysics, I took Astronomy I and II and that’s what really inspired it.
