Warning: This Post is super long!
Please just take a look at my information and tell me if you honestly think i have a chance at getting in please. Sorry for the long post but i wasn’t sure what all you might need to know to give me a good guess.
Classes I have already taken:
8th grade:
Honors Physical science
Honors Algebra 1
9th grade:
Honors English Composition1
Honors Latin1
Honors Geometry (was also on the 9th grade math competition team)
wellness
Honors Biology
Photography 1
10th grade:
Honors World History
Honors Algebra 2
Honors Latin 2
Honors Chemistry
Photography 2 (one semester)
Personal Finance (one semester)
Honors English Composition 2
Classes I plan on taking next year:
11th grade:
Statistics
AP English Language
Honors US History
AP Bio
Anatomy and Physiology
Creative writing (one semester)
Psychology (one semester)
12th Grade:
AP Chem.
Econ & Gov.
AP English Lit.
physics
pre cal
services learning (tutoring elementary school kids)
Another alternative is I take Ap Chem 11th grade instead of psychology and creative writing. Then I take English and Econ. & Gov over the summer. If that’s the case, I would take community college for a year or two after and knock out some of the basic classes and then transfer.( Tennessee promise would cover it )
My current weighted GPA is 3.8 Unweighted is 3.2 ( I missed a few days of chemistry and the teacher wont take my make up work even though I have doctor’s notes so its currently dragging me down)
Im fairly god at writing essays and I was In The National Junior Honor society in 9th grade and on the varsity soccer team from 8th-10th
I also have about 537 community service hours already an Im planning at volunteering at a camp the summers after 11th and 12th and each of those would give me about 500hrs or more. So If all goes as planed, I should have at a minimum 1537 community service hours when I graduate.
I also have a couple academic awards for having a high GPA while playing sports etc. but I done know if those even matter to colleges.
I am published in 3 different poetry collections, had my photography included in a very selective art show that was featured during one of my cities festivals. I also received an award for being an out standing photography student in my class ( only one to get it i the school that year)
I don’t really know if I can get in or not but UChicago Is my dream school. The environment is perfect and I really feel that I fit in with most of the students there. I plan on bringing my GPA up next year or course.
Thank you!
