Hey everyone! EA 2012 biological chemistry major here =)

EA History or Arabic or ME Studies major~ I haven’t started the essay yet, but I’m really excited to. It’ll either be 1 or 3 for me.

All schools’ EA admit rate is higher than RD but presumably many of the strongest applicants also apply EA.

EA Math major here. I have a decent idea for question 3 (what is between living and dreaming?) and hopefully I’ll be able to make it work.

Hello, hello, hello. EA applicant here looking to double-major in English Language and Literature and Law, Letters and Society as well as double-minor in French and Linguistics. UChicago is definitely my top school. I may be mildly obsessed. How are everyone’s essays going? I’m pretty set on number 3, but 6 is compelling, too. Are you writing the optional favorites essay? And if so, what about? Super nervous/excited for this year. I hope there’s room for a cello somewhere!

Anyone doing an overnight stay in the fall?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if the application questions that re already online (i.e. “Play-Dough and Plato,” “Don"t write about reverse psychology,” etc.) are the essay questions for 2011-2012 or if they are just example from other years. I’m not sure because I was thinking, “Why would they release the app. questions early?” Does anyone know?

Also, UC is my top choice and I will definitely go there if I get in. Applying EA, physics or chemistry with a pre-med path. I am so excited to apply!!! Common Application is open August 1st! I am so ready!

I was just at the open house on July 22nd and had my interview with a really cool guy. I wish everyone luck, but not too much luck. I want a spot in the class of 2016 really bad.

^The questions are for this year’s applicants, so get started. Lots of colleges release the supplement to their apps in July so people can get started early.

I am baffled by this year’s prompt but feel that it’s much more interesting than the “find x” prompt. Just have fun with it. Oh yeah, Regular Undecided here.

UChicago has a tumblr now, for anyone interested in keeping up to date and seeing cool photos: [UChicago College Admissions](http://uchicagoadmissions.■■■■■■■■■■/)

Hello everyone. (:
I’m super excited about applying here. By excited, I mean having my stomach do acrobats and a smile on my face. This school seems amazing to me–making it all the more intimidating! The essays look really fun, though. I’m doing either the fifth or sixth one.
I’m a bit worried about word length, though. D:

Look, UChicago is #1, let’s just settle that right now, but here is a list Forbes came out with:

I recall someone asking about our Model UN team earlier in this thread. Well, here’s an update :).

I did the campus visit day yesterday, it was great. I’m going to schedule an interview soon, and I really hope I get in. But everyone does, and everyone can’t. So I’m ready to accept defeat as well. Hopefully my quirky writing style will set me apart and give me a needed boost due to my (comparatively for UChicago) average grades and test scores.

We’ll see.

Hey guys! I know our essays are allowed to/encouraged to be quirky…but, well, I am quirky, and its a bit difficult to know where to draw the line!
Any UC students feel like taking a gander at my essay and reassuring me or laughing in my face?
Because that would be so so so awesome.

Hey skinny, I love quirky things, feel free to PM me your essay! Gosh you are fast lol, first draft already. I’m not a UC student, just applying though.

Guys, I’ve gota question. We know that Uchicago has a strict core taking up about 2 years of your time. How do students find the time to double major with the remaining 2 years?? are the requirements lowered or something?

Lol if you also know anything about columbia’s core and major requirements, post it too.

To answer the above question: UChicago uses the quarter system meaning that, unlike most schools, there is 3 quarters (the 4th quarter is in the summer and most people don’t attend this) instead of 2 semesters meaning you take a couple of more classes during your four years than a semster based school. My tour guide said that roughly 1/3 of your classes would be for the core, 1/3 from electives, and 1/3 from your major and she said that you could use your elective courses to take on a double major. She said that a large portion of the school double majored so it must be possible

To add to the above question, does anybody know anything about Columbia core vs. UChicago core? They seemed pretty similar on the websites

JHS did what I thought was a very good job exploring the differences between the Columbia and UChicago Core curricula in another thread.

uchi is definitely my number 1 choice. good luck to all 2016er
