Definitely my number one school choice. If there was an ED option --I would be applying
I just had my interview… my interviewer was not very passionate about U of C as she believed any school is a possibility for success…I’ll prob think that way too in a few years. She said interviews don’t hold a lot of weight when it comes to the decisions --the university just wants to know if the student is interested and aware.
@anxioussenior1: It’s just that my grades are meh and I think that could potentially hurt my application. And plus, they defer so many people. And it’s pretty difficult to get accepted as a deferred applicant since you’re competing with the RD pool as well :c
This is my top choice. I would definitely apply ED if that were an option. I actually dormed on campus for three weeks while taking a microbiology class and I had the best summer of my life. I met so many like-minded, passionate individuals and I completely feel in love with the College.
@Mochis1 Ah, don’t worry! The worst thing that can happen is an eventual rejection, but in the end, we are all going to get rejected at something in life, whether it be at school, in marriage, at a job, etc. We should all be proud that we have achieved enough to believe we have a shot at UChicago!
UChicago is actually one of my top choices. It was first but now it’s tied with Columbia. If I had to choose between the two to ED, I really wouldn’t know what to do. Thankful that I can apply early to both.
@Mochis1 I don’t mean to pry, you don’t have to answer. But how meh is meh? The reason I ask is because I think I have meh grades as well, and I’ve seen people here call 2200-2300 SAT and 3.7-3.9 UW GPA relatively low. Are they really relatively low? Are these stats so much worse than having a 3.99 and 2400?

@dr0wning: Meh is like, barely above a 4.0 W and 3.73 UW. It isn’t too bad, but I got a C in AP Calculus so I’m worried about that. I’m just glad UChicago focuses on the essays primarily in the application.

UChicago’s tied with Yale as my top choice… but I feel like I have a better shot at UChicago. They’re both incredibly selective though 
I actually have decent confidence in my essays, especially the main supplement just because of how out of the box it was; everyone I had read it for an opinion couldn’t stop laughing so it was a good sign! However, I in no way shape or form think I will be accepted. It’s too slim of a chance to believe I will.
@Lift35 Why do you say that? UChicago weighs the essays very heavily… I’m sure if you have good essays your chances are not as slim?
@kathkath42 UChicago is also a fan of high test scores…in which case mine: 2200 SAT/1440 CR+M and 33 ACT, although not “bad” by any standards, are more on the lower side for UChicago, which doesn’t help as an Asian applicant, unless being first generation “negates” that.
Same, trying to stay busy which isn’t hard. I need to be working on other apps but I want to find out if I get deferred bc theres no point ing submitting if I get in. ugh its going to be a long 10 days
