for the essays, do they focus on “best fit” or creativity

I’ve heard multiple UChicago alumni interviewers say they focus more on creativity in the essays @CoolGurl101
@hope1938 I hope (ahahaha) my extended essay was creative enough, since my why uchicago was pretty straightforward and my optional lists (which included my favorite foreign word and favorite previously performed pieces of music) was short.
I expressed creativity in everything i wrote. Or at least i hope i did. I tried with columbia and that failed and got me deferred.
You’re all waaaaaaay too hard on yourselves. There’s an element of randomness in the system. Denial is not failure.
@dr0wning yep i did. All the essays are really important. What I meant by best fit is more like the content you put in there suits what they are looking forward or does it just have to be creative
Did you guys interview with Alumni or 4th years?
@CoolGurl101 oh sorry, i meant to address @Indigoraccoon4 because if you ask “what essays are important?”, then “all of them” is not really a helpful answer
I honestly thought it was fit (no one told me that, just my opinion), but probably both
@alpha525 deferral =/= rejection so you were good enough to not be rejected 
I wrote about pancakes, eggs and bacon for my three essays…creative? yes…creative enough? who knowssss haha it really is all random at that point, just go with it

it’ll be the last day though so I think I’ll try to celebrate and have fun with friends and see my depressing result when I get home.
It’s 2:30 am- 4:30 am here in India- guess I won’t be sleeping…
