Why test optional?
My SAT scores are trash
Change my essay to the comparison of apples and oranges based on the apple´s simplicity vs the orange´s complexity. I related this theory to one event in my life, where I was accused of shoplifting (which I didn´t) because of my race. In the end, I will explain we need to not judge by our simple appearance (apple) rather be judged based on our complexity (orange).
I think it is too hard to give a chance percentage that is test optional because you are the first class to have that option.
I do know in theory they want folks that their application says are UChicago students. Your particulars look good to me.
If you don’t apply your chances are zero. You have some pretty good hooks and your essay sounds interesting. Are you applying ED? That may help.
Do the community a favor and keep us updated on your acceptance status. It will be good to know who gets in using the test optional route.
Also, SAT and ACT scores are often raised with a little independent study on the Kahn Academy. I think your odds would be better with a 1500+ SAT, 33+ ACT.
I am applying EA to increase my chances.
