UChicago EA Applicants 2018

@crazychic
me :o
I’m so nervous… No one in my school ever got accepted to UChicago… I mean my school does have a relatively short history but still :(

I couldn’t apply ED anywhere due to georgetown’s EA policy. But if I could, I would apply to UChicago ED.

I recommend watching a beautiful mind, looper (JGL LOVEEEE), ferris bueller’s day off, Forrest Gump, avengers (any marvel cinematic universe film basically), friends with benefits…

Get a good sprinkling of everything

I would apply to UChicago ED if I could. It is most definitely my first choice.
Anybody who hasn’t watched Once needs to watch it. Other than that some of my favorites are The Blind Side, Sundays at Tiffany’s, The Breakfast Club, Dead Poets Society… and yeah, I really need to catch up on watching movies
Has anybody watched Sylvia? Its about Plath and Hughes’ relationship, which I find strangely fascinating. I plan on watching it tonight :D

anyy idea on when decisions might come out?? getting nervousssss

@enoughnerve Yup, I have read it! It’s brilliantly self-indulgent; in other words, classic Morrissey. ;)

@king I’m not sure but I’m going to guess a week from today?

Hey guys! Just jumping in the thread. So are decisions online on the portal, or a letter, or both? Everyone on here sounds really cool, it’s getting me excited :)

@crazychic such a good movie! I’m slightly obsessed with Sylvia and everything she has ever done haha

WE HAVE A DAY ahhhhhhh

I’m counting down the days now…

Twitter: EA Decision Release Date Wednesday, Dec. 18th

Having a date somehow makes the wait worse.

Um, I don’t know how to say this, but I won’t be joining you in the UChicago class of 2018…

BECAUSE I GOT ACCEPTED TO COLUMBIA!

I am still extremely sad that I won’t get the chance to form House Narnia with you guys and get into late night discussions about Vonnegut or Tom Hiddleston. I wish you all the best wherever you go, and as weird as it seems, you all are now my dear friends, and I will miss you bunches :(

Also… should I just wait until UChicago releases decisions and then politely say no? I think an application withdrawal form is a bit too late now.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I will be cheering for each of you as you head into the arena that is college admissions!
Peace and love!
Angela

^Congrats!

Congratulations angelaxia! That’s awesome! I would ask Columbia if you can just not accept UChicago’s offer or if by “withdraw” they actually mean a formal withdrawal.

I got my own good news today, too, I’ve been accepted conditionally in Government to LSE. :D

Congrats, angelaxia!

Good luck with Columbia, and have fun in New York!

As for the rest of us, I estimate about 143 hours until we know.

Congrats to you, too, impressionistic. Isn’t LSE like one of the premier economics schools in the world?

@angel congrats! is it weird to say i’ll miss you? because i will. anyway, have fun in NY and stay awesome!

@angel @impression
Congrats both of you! And anyone else who got accepted to other schools!

@angelaxia, You must immediately withdraw all of your other early applications since you’ve been accepted to Columbia. You know that you are definitely going to matriculate to Columbia, and so it’s not fair to other colleges and applicants that you don’t withdraw your other applications, as you’re “taking seats away” from those who have other colleges such as UChicago as their first choice.

If you log into your UChicago account, there is an application withdrawal form. It’s blue and in bold…within that box thing. It appears right under, “Change of plans for next year?” So yes, there is a way for you to formally withdraw your application.

Furthermore, it is not too late at all to withdraw your other early applications. You just received your Columbia decision today (by the way, congratulations!), so you weren’t expected to withdraw your other apps any time before that–that would not make any sense, ha! There is a reason early action decisions come out a week after early decision–so that those who got in ED can withdraw their other apps from the EA schools and the EA schools can do some last minute figuring out of their apps, numbers, and such.

Thank you @Debater1996, @impressionistic, @renoverchat, @ironchariot, @bacteria1221, and @siggyfreud! And congratulations to you too @impressionistic!!

@siggyfreud - The last thing I would want to do is jeopardize the chances of my fellow CC’ers for admission to UChic! I just submitted my application withdrawal form, and I was a bit confused about the part where it said “Copy and paste an email confirmation here” because I didn’t receive emails about my admission to Columbia - it was via online portal, so I just put my email address there in case they send me a confirmation link.

@ironchariot - I will miss you too! And thanks!
