UChicago EA Applicants 2018

omg if one more person calls it uic…

Whoa there Slytherin is my favorite house
I spend an unhealthy amount of time looking at the house descriptions on the UChicago website. They do have reputations it’s wonderful

i can’t get too attached to a house yet until i know which dorms are wheelchair accessible. i can, however, get attached to mansueto library

@ironchariot I wouldn’t say that I like Springsteen, I ADORE HIM. I can’t even quantify my respect and love for him. I make a Bruce Birthday Brownie every year to celebrate his birthday. When I get rejected he’ll be consoling me ;)

@angel nice, very nice. i’m a bit more partial to jimi hendrix and jim morrison, but any classic rock is good with me  we’ll have to share music if we both get in

Do any of you guys listen to the smiths?

@EnoughNerve Haha yes, this reminds me of the film ‘500 Days of Summer’ where Zooey Deschanel and Joe Gordon Levitt are in the elevator and they bond over the Smiths :)

Zooey Deschanel… Talk about a girl crush right there! Though I like St. Vincent a bit better…

Oh yes, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is pretty close to Tom Hiddleston in my adoring fan girl book. Did anyone see his movie Don Jon?

If so, I applaud you  heh heh heh

“So please, please, please, let me, let me, let me, let me get what I want this time.”

Haven’t listened to their wider work, but you could say this has been on replay lately.

Quick questions, how do you guyz have time to keep up with all of that? I can’t even keep up with one show.

@omar I binge watch shows over the summer, and for current shows I just watch them over the weekends.

Hence my chronic procrastination.

@neotissue, I don’t do anything on weekends :(. That’s surely going to change if I get accepted. They took the swim test out :(.

I actually don’t watch much tv shows either <_< I’m more of a movie person…

and i hardly ever watch movies

I watch waaaaay more movies than TV shows. I only keep up with the vampire diaries, the originals, and agents of shields. Some family guy and community here and there. Mostly I binge watch entire tv series and 3-5 movies at a time. I love me some cinema :D

@EnoughNerve I love The Smiths’ music (I’ve had “Ask” on repeat for the past hour)! Have you read Morrissey’s autobiography yet?

Heck yes, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the best thing since the invention of snl! (And in my drama-nerd book that says a lot haha.) I’m taking a year off so I have more free time to devote to obsessively watching sketch comedy and monty python movies to distract myself from the sense of impending doom that comes from waiting for callbacks. I haven’t read Morrissey’s book yet, but I’m dying to get my hands on it! Unfortunately my town is so small and hippy-filled we only have specialty bookstores, so it’s sometimes hard to get new releases. Have you read it?

@Omar My social life revolves around it, haha. I love going downtown to all these quirky movie theatres and shops and of course, the record store. As for TV, its pretty much my best friend. Whenever I feel down, I sit myself down on the couch and begin a marathon of classic movies on AMC or something like that. I could talk about film and TV for dayssssss!

@neontissues I’m into cinema too! My favorites include Annie Hall, Little Miss Sunshine, Once, etc. etc. If we get in we are definitely having movie parties! We have a film club at my school, its wonderful! We watch and then discuss

hey, I know I’m joining in this awesome conversation a little bit late but- time difference, ugh.
@impressionistic I have that song on repeat too! Its painfully elongating my days waiting for decisions but I just cant turn it off. It reminds of all the UChicago awesomeness that I wish I could have
@enoughnerve haha, I love your Lavender Brown- Ron analogy for UChicago. I feel like that too!
I binge watch tv shows, turns out I’ve lost the patience to sit through movies. Its just so difficult. I know I’m gonna be having a tv show marathon when our decisions come out because its going to be around 2:30 am over here when they do (that’s assuming they go up at 4 pm)
But then again, i may just watch movies and try to branch out :stuck_out_tongue: anyone up for posting some suggestions?

Is there anyone else who hasn’t applied ED anywhere at all?
