UChicago EA Applicants 2019

@Awflapjackz‌ that is exactly what I’m thinking. I’m 99% sure that I won’t be accepted anyway and I don’t want to make that 100% by finding a typo. It’s weird. I kind of feel like I’m on the waitlist, you know? Like I’ve already been rejected but there’s some unbelievably minuscule chance that it’ll change.

@wethemusicmakers‌ I don’t think anyone from my school goes to an ivy level colleges, and I’m sure they weren’t lying. If your application is strong otherwise, I really don’t think a typo is going to be an issue.

@wethemusicmakers‌ that’s why i am scared to look at mine! and i don’t wanna look back on them and hate them. i dunno. i’m sure your essays are great!

that’s really rare here. ah i applied to berkeley but i feel like i won’t get in. plus probably can’t afford it, hahaha.

@ogacihcu well, I do go to a college prep school. That has something to do with it haha.

@Awflapjackz I also applied to Berkeley! I’m hoping I won’t have to find out if I get in though, because ideally sometime in mid-December I’ll find out that I can rescind those apps lol.

i’m honestly so impatient now and it’s awful. i think it’s partially because most people at my school already know where they’re going and i just want that…

@wethemusicmakers‌ it would be cool to go to berkeley though! i’m so far away. however, i don’t know if i would really like the atmosphere there.

honestly if uchicago accepts me and i get some kind of aid then i’d most likely go. it’s just where i feel like i kinda belong…? the only issue is getting in. :b

Oh god oh god I just looked at the thread from last year when decisions were coming out and wow it was torture. So many deferrals. AGHGHH torture.

If you’d like to be similarly tortured: <a href=“UChicago EA Applicants 2018 - #1636 by crazychic - University of Chicago - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/1577074-uchicago-ea-applicants-2018-p110.html</a></p>

@Awflapjackz haha opposite thing for me, Berkeley is a little close for comfort. I really want to get out of CA for college. And same. If I get in to UChicago I would go there, though I might apply to maybe two other schools.

@wethemusicmakers‌ already looked at that thread, like, last week! that’s gonna be us soon… i’ve never even been to california or anywhere remotely close to it. chicago is about five hours away from me, so it’s still a little close. i feel kinda bad wanting to get out of michigan because i could go to umich for a good price, but i want a change.

Hiya! wanted to join in on all the fun here. And by fun I mean torture of waiting for that deferred or rejected decision ugh (at least on my part)

And the only other person from my school who’s applied that I think has a chance is my best friend. I think they’re more qualified than me and will get in, and I want them to, but its definitely a conflicted feeling in my head haha.

I kinda feel like I gave up on getting in uchicago awhile ago. I don’t think my interview went too great, and my essays weren’t my favorite. Still, Uchicago is the first school I fell in love with and I had to try.

Do any of you know about how they consider outside circumstances, like injuries affecting grades?

@Awflapjackz Well California is very lovely and if you want a change it’d be plenty far from you :stuck_out_tongue: And yes same for me. I feel like if I stay in CA for college then it’s likely I’ll end up living here after college and then for the rest of my life… which I don’t want. Plus I think college is about seeing/experiencing new places!

@byebyebirdy‌ I can’t say with any authority cause I’m not an admissions person, but I think that UChicago is one of the most holistic in the admissions process. So if you have a valid explanation for a dip in grades I am sure that they will understand :)

@awflapjackz I feel the same way about the U of Minnesota – it’s a great school (not as good as UMich haha) but leaving MN would be great…

@wethemusicmakers‌ haha that’s how i feel about michigan! i want to live far away. i might want to live abroad someday even… i really dont understand how people are satisfied living in the same place for their whole life. unless it’s exciting

@kateko‌ understandable! i was accepted to uminn a couple of months ago. it’s a good option for me because their cheme program looks amazing. the school also seems nice. minnesota seems even colder and snowier than michigan though, hahaha

decisions come out the 18th

How do you know?

@stephli‌ how do you know?

So I cannot believe I created a CC account, but HELLO! I applied EA to UChicago! =) I applied without getting above a 2000 in SAT. Let’s see how everything goes! ^.^ My essay was really good in my opinion though. I’m getting nervous. Only 2 more weeks!!!

After reading last year’s thread and decision results, one of the more interesting (and saddening) points was seeing people go through the stages of the Kübler-Ross model. I really hope I won’t have to.

Are they going to ever post when decisions will come out?

@srockerz, i believe they will; it is a part of the admission process.

and in that regard, @stephli where did you get the decision date?

Decisions come out on the 18th?

I’ve been searching everywhere and I seriously can’t find anything about UChicago releasing a date! I’d have thought they would have posted it on the tumblr page like last year…
