@EllieRosie dang it. I’m screwed then
@EllieRosie if it’s uploaded via the portal or naviance it’s marked as posted/received. That doesn’t mean it’s actually looked at and I’m certain 24hrs out decisions are made at this point.
Best of luck everyone.
@EllieRosie @fbsdreams My mid year report was uploaded to CommonApp Monday night. It says it was downloaded on CommonApp today. If @EllieRosie’s Mid Year report was looked at, would mine be looked at?
@fbsdreams @EllieRosie I checked my UChicago portal and it doesn’t say that they have received Mid Year report.
@TheShortSon IMHO I seriously doubt it was looked at and if it was it would be a cursory glance at the grades.
My daughter’s mid-year report was downloaded from CA several weeks ago and it never showed up on her portal. My guess is that they give it a glance and unless there is something very weird there, they won’t factor it in significantly, if at all. They are smart to request - some seniors might blow off the entire year, for instance. @TheShortSon if you really want to know whether it’s going to impact your decision, you best disclose here or somewhere else where you can get some feedback. Assured or prepared - either way - is much better than the anxiety.
@JBStillFlying I have disciplinary action on mid year report and it was submitted Monday. It has been downloaded today. I don’t know if it will be factored in my decision or not. I’d rather be rejected from UChicago because of a lackluster application than a mid year report.
@JBStillFlying If they’ve already made my decision, would they change it after looking at mid year report?
@TheShortSon I think it will depend on what the disciplinary action is, and how severely it’s perceived.
@JBStillFlying However, they can’t change decisions this late, correct? The acceptance letter has probably been mailed and the portal is probably made.
@JBStillFlying Assuming I’ve been accepted
I don’t know, @TheShortSon. If they require at least a quick glance at the mid-year report, then they aren’t going to accept anyone w/o doing that. No use trying to get in on a technicality! LOL. If your infraction is minor, they’ll most likely ignore it. If it wasn’t then they won’t. Guessing there are always some last minute decisions. They won’t make a decision on you - or anyone - unless they are sure it’s the right one.
@JBStillFlying However, admission counselors say that if you send the report after 15, it is fine. Hence, UChicago didn’t use Mid Year report in the evaluation of the applicant. How is it fair to then use the mid year report as the deciding factor if one applicant didn’t submit one and the other did?
Yes, they can rescind your acceptance
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/1605260-when-does-uchicago-rescind.html
@123Mom456 Rescind an acceptance after the applicant has been notified of his or her acceptance. Thus, happening after Feb 15.
@TheShortSon - Yes, also take a close look at the application. Some of the statements you agreed to say you will notify them of disciplinary actions. Bottom line it might depend of the severity of your actions. Dishonesty and cheating is highly looked down on. Cutting a class probably won’t get your acceptance rescinded.
@123Mom456 The disciplinary action happened after I applied. Also, it will most likely be looked down on.
@TheShortSon I think you are confusing things. All acceptance other than RD states that you must maintain your current level of academics. ED/EA/EDII all state that you will are required.
If you are accepted and when they do review they can rescind. If it’s caught prior (and it’s as serious as you are making it out to be) then they can simply reject.
My advice would have been to make sure it didn’t get logged into your record and there are many avenues for that regardless of what it is that was done.
@TheShortSon - I want to be honest with you. Yes, it could matter. Even if it happened after you applied and even if it happened after you were accepted. You might want to talk to your GC about this. They are asked to explain this on your mid year report so I am thinking what they said might be taken into account.
@fbsdreams That was helpful. Going back to the situation at hand, would they rescind my acceptance or make the decision now and reject me? This is all assuming my application was reviewed and I was accepted.
