ok so i called the office of admission today and asked whether or not i have to take the new SAT/ACT. the person i spoke with said that the new SAT is required for all transfer applicants and you can submit the ACT in addition to that. This seems a bit odd to me considering what is written on the UChicago website...
"If you choose to submit SAT scores, you must sit for the new version of the SAT with the essay component. (If you choose to submit ACT scores, we do not require the optional essay component.) This is required for all transfer applicants, no matter the age."
So who is right? The person i spoke with or the website? I am very confused right now...

so that means even if we took the old SAT, we cant submit those scores and have to take the new SAT?

I am willing to bet because of this new policy acceptance rate will climb for transfers at UChicago. Many very qualified ppl who have this as their 3rd or 4th choice will not be willing to do this test again.

supernal from my understanding yea i think thats right...
rockofeller... you are definitely right... i am having second thoughts about applying now because i think northwestern is probably my first choice and they do not require you to take the test again

guess what, ba bye chicago, i was accepted...there is no way i am retaking a 1450 SAT + 750 SAT II writing, no way jose

i dont know if that is correct or not though, it did not seem like the person on the phone knew what she was talking about. so ya i dont know if the website is right or her.
but ya i really dont want to take the SAT, considering i took the ACT before and have very little experience with the SAT. but i guess it could help me since i only got a 27... whatever...

it's true...they want the new SAT test, i called.

Well, forget them, my parents didnt even want me to go there...i was accepted as a freshman, and this is the love I get from this school. The Admissions ppl at chicago are to say the least, not the most friendly bunch.
