itsybitsy, they will be released in the afternoon on Friday, March 23rd. We will send you an e-mail when the decision is ready to view in your Chicago Account. We will not know the exact time until that day (it depends on when we are certain everything is accurate and ready to be released) but it will likely be sometime before 6pm CST.

Grace! I have very important update to share with your office. May I still submit the update?

I have sent an e-mail to the admission office with the new update–please note that the update is my very recent acheivement which means a lot to me and is of International Level. Will my update be taken into consideration at this stage as decisions might have been already made? Please reply ASAP.

Grace, what was the final deadline for missing application items to not receive a penalty?

Hi Grace
On my UChicago account, it asks for “Financial Aid Non Custodial Parent Information”.
Does this need to be completed before decisions are out?

I must praise UChicago for having an admissions counselor on CC that constently answers question for students who are going through a long stressful period in their college application process. This makes the students feel very warm.

Thank you Grace and thank you UChicago.

kdines and imtitanium, at this point it is very unlikely that additional updates can be used for decision-making purposes, but if the update represents a significant change or achievement, please do feel free to send it in. Use your best judgement as to what constitutes a significant update.

adamb15, the deadline to submit missing materials passed several weeks ago; if you have recently been notified of missing materials (this is highly unlikely but possible in a handful of cases, so please don’t freak out if you are reading this post and have not received such communication), please follow the instructions contained within the e-mail you received or have your guidance counselor follow up with our office.

BlackBunny, you will need to fill out this form if one of your parents was unable to be contacted to fill out FAFSA information (parent is deceased/whereabouts unknown/legal agreement bars contact with parent, etc) and you are interested in receiving financial aid. If you have questions about the form please contact our aid office at 773-702-8666.

JaguarFan, thank you very much! We know students are using CC, so we figure we may as well have someone around who can accurately answer students’ questions.

Hi Grace, I am an international applicant applying for financial aid.
Is it possible for me to be accepted even if I’m denied financial aid, or would I be automatically denied admission if I’m denied aid?

Hi Grace,
Do you know when UChicago will send the final finacial aid packet?
Thanks!!!

DrSpencerReid, we guarantee to meet 100% of need for all admitted students, even international, although we are need-aware for international students. We would not accept an international student without providing the aid they required.

redscorpion, if you are an EA admit, you will likely receive your aid package before next Friday. RD admitted students should receive their aid notifications with their offers of acceptance if they submitted required materials on time.

Hi Grace…I submitted my FAFSA/CSS Profile, as well as my parents’ 2010 and 2011 tax returns. Everything except my parents’ 2011 taxes reflect as being received by the office. I confirmed with the online delivery system that they were delivered. Should I be concerned that my online form doesn’t show that they’ve been received?

I have the same problem! ^

homeschooler and caricature, no need to be concerned. The aid office has received your materials if they did not contact you indicating otherwise. You can follow up with them at 773-702-8666 if you are especially worried.

Hey,

I’m an Irish student looking to apply next autumn !
I was just wondering, we don’t use GPAs here but it would be possible to generate one if needed because our school has my grades on record, would it be necessary to submit one?

Also how much emphasis would be put on my junior cert results (state examinations taken in 3rd year/9th grade) mine were average but in the the last two years my grades have vastly improved and I’m now a straight A student?

Thanks

Thank you Grace,
My son was accepted EA so he received a preliminary financial aid package. We are looking forward to the final package!!!

I apologize if this has already been asked and answered, but I’m wondering when RD applicants would find out about any merit scholarships. Thanks for all the great information on this thread.

stephenA, it is not necessary to supply a GPA if your school does not use GPAs; they are not a required portion of the application, and we will be able to glean all of the information we need from your record of performance in high school without the addition of a GPA. As for your grades, it’s hard to say, but know that your application will be looked at thoroughly and with thought to how your learning may have translated to higher performance on tests than in the classroom, and we are always happy to see an upward trend in a student’s grades if they may have struggled early on.

mimk, regular decision applicants will receive notification of merit scholarships, if offered, with their offer of acceptance. Our committee continues to meet through April, so it is also possible that select students could hear about a merit scholarship offer after their offer of admission.

Thanks for replying!!
Would it be worth noting that my first four years of Secondary eduacation(including those exams) were conducted through my second language(irish)? I have since moved to an English speaking School .
