im planning on doing international relations or maybe econ. with an international focus
i got accepted to both but havent got my aid package from georgetown because i just turned fafsa in about a week ago. (how is georgetown's FA anyways? generous? better than UChicago in this regards?)

These two universities are on entirely different planets as far as campus culture is concerned, so I would first think about cultural fit. Hint: Gtwn defines preppiness. UofC defines anti-preppiness. Next, Chicago is a great research university on the european model. Gtwn is more like a LAC with some grad and professional programs tacked on. IOW, no one raves about the research done at Gtwn, it’s med school or its law school. Of course, SFS is a great program as long as you continue with its narrow focus. Outside foreign service types, and outside the DC area, it is not well known.

DC, for one interested in international affairs or government, is a strong plus for gtwn. The opportunities for undergrads are amazing here in these arenas.

Regarding FA, I would expect gtwn is less generous than UofC, if only because it is even less wealthy. Keep in mind, too, that the living expenses are far greater at Gtwn than UofC/Hyde Park. I have personal knowledge, having lived in Hyde Park three years ago, then moving to DC, where I’ve lived since, not far from Gtwn.
