Hi.
I got admitted to UChicago and Yale-NUS for the class of 2019 and I am very confused where should I go to.
I have got no aid at UChicago whereas I got almost full ride at Yale-NUS but I must mention that paying for UChicago wont be a problem for me but it also won’t be an ease. I mean paying for it wont land me or my family into any debts or make us bankrupt but still shelling out 70k a year always has some uneasiness.
What I need in a college is which can provide me great job opportunities after graduation and good internships (I heard UChicago gets great paying internships). I realize UChicago used to have a very study based image before but does anyone know what are the recent employment statistics ?
I want to major in either economics or business related majors and my ideal job would be to work in wall street.
Please help.
Thanks.
congratulations!
I cannot imaging paying 70k/year extra for some school that is comparable to YALE. Go Yale, you will not regret it.
I understand that Yale-NUS is not Yale, but is a school in Asia that is affiliated with Yale. If you intend to get a job in the United States, I would not be so sure the Yale-NUS degree will have anywhere near the same weight the Yale University degree has. That is something I would check on. I noticed on the Yale website that they mention the Yale-NUS school and that a student there can take up to a year of courses at Yale. A degree from University of Chicago is a degree from a prestigious American University, which I imagine would be more valuable for one seeking a job on wall street. Also, if the affiliation with Yale is new, it may take several years before employers in the US understand what a Yale-NUS degree is. Best of luck on whatever you decide.
@artloversplus I dont think you know what Yale-NUS is. It is not exactly Yale. Thank you for clarifying that UChicago is comparably to Yale
@CTlawyer Thank you
My pleasure.
sorry for the misunderstanding. But I do believe academically, Chicago and Yale is on the par.
If you are Singaporean and money is a huge issue, go to NUS, otherwise UChicago
Thre are cultural and other issues that you need to look into too…
