Hey guys, I am lucky enough to hold an acceptance for both Yale and UChicago for economics. I am really interested in my subject and would primarily prefer the university that will provide me the best education for economics, but other factors that are most important to me include: Strength of Student run organisations, careers (esp in finance) and the city life. Thanks in advance .
Congratulations, both universities have excellent economics departments, but in my unbiased opinion (I am at Yale), Yale will offer you the premier experience and name recognition for your career.
Chicago’s econ department is arguably the best if only by the number of Nobel laureates. But it is a beneift mostly for graduate students. If you are interested in finance and have your sight set on Wall Street, Yale is a better choice.
Yale (without any hesitation)
@dubaiapplicant For finance it is Yale without a doubt. Any Ivy with the exception of maybe Cornell and Brown, is a better choice than UChicago when it comes to finance/Wall street. Also the superior prestige, name recognition will prob make a difference in Wall Street. Also I think you will have a better social life at Yale.
