Waitlisted kiddos…where you at? Can anyone previously waitlisted share?
Also, does anyone know how likely it is that you’ll get a spot from the “gap year” waitlist option? Does your application just get considered again in the class of 2022, or do they guarantee you a spot but you just have to wait a year? Seems like lots of us got waitlisted this year, but the statistics on the waitlist are rather unclear. Everyone does seem to agree that the UC waitlist is very large. Just wondering if anyone could provide any words of wisdom or if the waitlist is so large that I should just forget about it.
In recent years UC has had a massive waitlist (thousands).

“In 2012, UChicago reported that they waitlisted 3,000 applicants.”
Chicago ALWAYS has a large wait list. Some years they take 100± off the list some years they take 10± off the list, you never can tell. D was very fortunate to get off the wait list 6 years ago at end of April, they want us to make a decision in 3 days. She was one of the 15± lucky ones.
Does your application just get considered again in the class of 2022,
NO
or do they guarantee you a spot but you just have to wait a year?
NO.
If you want to be considered for the class of 2022, you’ll have to reapply.
