UCI Appeal

I know the chances of an appeal working a very slim but I still really want to try for UCI. I read several appeal situations based around grade improvement or emotional distress but my situation is about the possibilities that my test scores were looked at incorrectly but could have affected my admission decision.

I sent in two of my ACT scores on the same day before the marked deadline but only 1 of the scores (the lower of the two) was shown on my tests section of my portal. The second score (the higher one) never seemed to be received; it was never shown on my portal. I took this test in December so I wasn't able to put it on my application but sent in my score the same time as my other test which I took in October (that one I put on my application).

The thing that might work against me is that I did email my college counselor on my portal about it and they said they did received the second score but it still wasn't shown on my portal. UCD did show the score (I sent my scores through UCI to be sent to the other UC's) so it did go through UCI..

Is this valid? or not? I have other possible "new and compelling evidence" like
- my internship ( i interned at a local doctor's office where I actually had the same responsiblities as a nurse/office assistant instead of just filing all day)
- medical senior seminar presentation (I presented a self designed experiment and received advanced marks from a panel of judge)

I’m really sorry, but the chance of appeal is slim in the sense that most reasons aren’t valid, such as your own. I mean, you could try, but yeah, I’m sorry, don’t think that could work.

Even the possible rerecorded ACT score wouldn’t stand a chance?? …

If you believe that your test scores were not properly evaluated, then do submit an appeal. That’s a valid reason. However, whether or not your decision is reversed depends on whether or not UCI actually considered those scores in making their decision. If the admissions counselor says they received it, there’s a chance that they’ve already considered the score and rejected you anyway. The best way to figure this out is to call UCI and discuss your situation with the admissions people. I also believe that extracurricular activities since the application are not strong reasons for appeal.
