Yes this is a good year for UCI sports. Our men volleyball just won the NCAA title, and now our baseball team beat wichita state and top-seeded texas twice to advance to the college world series (equivalent to basketball elite 8)

Having a football team has been an on-going topic. From the administration point of view (which kind of makes sense), I think they are holding off because the costs of starting up and maintaining a program is pretty high and if the team doesnt do well, the benefits might not outweigh the costs. (Although I personally think having a football team would be great, since there are no pro teams in the OC.)

In the meantime, I am basking in the glory of how well the baseball team is doing and seeing them on ESPN. It's so great and all the announcers are pretty excited that UCI has made it to Omaha after only having the program re-instated less than 10 years ago. Zot!

YESSSS!!!!!!! we just advanced to final four beating CSU fullerton and ASU. I'm not even a baseball fan and both games had me on the edge of my seat. Both games were classic (CSUF game was the longest game in college world series history and had top 2 plays on sportscenter top 10)

It is all good! This was their first time in the College World Series and did very well! Lots of national attention, great for the reputation for the school :)

We had a great run and made it farther than I expected it. It's tough to win 4 days in a row especially against powerhouse teams like ASU, OSU, and CSUF. At least we beat CSUF, texas, ASU, and CSUF on the way to final four, which had a combined titles of like 15 national championships.

We also made history by having the longest game in cws history and the only team to win 2 consecutive extra innings game.

also remember that UCI baseball program is relatively young, the program was reinstated 7 years ago after a 10 year hiatus, and with this national attention, it will only get better.
