UCI Business Econ

For those of you who have gotten accepted to UCI, do any of you have transfer conditions stating that you must receive "B" grades in your calculus classes? I know UCI had this requirement last year, but just recently they changed the req's for Fall 07 students. On this page if you scroll down to the very bottom it lists what ALL Economics majors need ie. the usual 60 units completed, and...

Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.70 plus 2.50 in required courses
Complete one year of micro- and macro-economics
Complete one semester or two quarters of approved calculus

http://www.admissions.uci.edu/ccc_selection2007.html

Now last year it said specifically that you did need a "B" or better in the calculus requirement, but now on that page it changed to only a 2.5 combined major prep GPA. What I'm worried about is I am currently enrolled in 2nd semester calculus and I might get a "C" in the class. However even if I do get a C in the class my overall major prep gpa will still be well over 2.5. On my transfer conditions and my admissions counselor it says that I do need a B grade or else they will change my major. I don't understand this. It clearly states on the website that this is not true. It even states that I do NOT need 2nd semester calculus to even be considered for admission... you only need 1 semester which I already completed. Anyone know anything about this?

You are only required to get a B or better in classes that are prereqs to your intended major. Everything else is C or better.

Hrmm, that's odd. My UCI transfer conditions are:

Complete 60 units by the end of the spring term

Maintain an overall gpa of 2.70

Maintain a gpa of 2.00 or better in my last semester

All of my prereqs are A grades though so that's possibly why I didn't get any conditions regarding my last prereq (calculus 2).

I heard UCI letz ppl to take summer courses to complete 60units is dat rite? not including Math and English.

You are wrong Doryx, look at the page I linked...

Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.70 plus 2.50 in required courses
Complete one year of micro- and macro-economics
Complete one semester or two quarters of approved calculus

You don't need a B or better in all major pre req's. Please don't reply to my post if you don't know what your talking about.

Hey, I got my information straight from UCI rep and I've been accepted to UCI already so... believe what you want. I was just posting the information that I've been told.

Is your major Business Econ?

I also got into UCI as a Business Economics major. So your counselor told you that you DO need a B? I'm currently taking my 2nd semester of Calculus and am not doing to well. Here are the messages between my counselor and I:

Me: Hi, I'm currently taking my second semester of Calculus
(Math 5B) at my community college. I was wondering how
receiving a grade lower than a C would affect my admission
status. Thanks.

Counselor: This should not impact your admission as long as
you still meet your Transfer Conditions. You
cannot be on probation your last term and need an
overall GPA of 2.70.

Me: It does not matter that Math 5B is a prerequisite
for my major, Business-Economics? Even if I
receive a D or F in this class, my overall GPA
will still remain above 2.70; however, I was
wondering if it would be more beneficial for me to
remain in the course (with the possibility of
earning C/D or not passing at all) or to drop the
course, receive a W and then retake it during
the summer or after I transfer to Irvine?

I'm waiting for a response to the 2nd question and will keep you updated.

I noticed that you wrote this in 2007, so what did you end up doing?
