Notice how they say “can” but not “will”. It’s all very vague, but I wouldn’t be discouraged if you don’t hear from them over the weekend. Hopefully we’ll all receive (good) news on Monday!</p>
<p>@firstgenblackman My son is bi-racial, mixed black/white and goes to a public LAUSD high school in Los Angeles which is majority Hispanic and Filipino. He reached and applied to UC’s. He was rejected from UCSB and waitlisted at UCI. He did not have very strong SAT scores, more average, but he is a solid student with a high GPA and UC GPA. I think the major he applied to affected the outcome. </p>
<p>I think you (and my son) will flourish wherever you land, you have to make it happen and do the best you can to get in, stay in, work hard and finish. That is the hardest part - finishing and moving into the workplace, regardless of where you do your undergrad. You might be in work situations where again, you are the only minority, it is good experience, but I understand it can be lonely too. </p>
