crossing my fingers
monday the April 1st, this will be funny if they did release it on April 1 FOOLS DAY  for tag folks
Can someone chance me? I’m feeling very anxious and worrying too much. My transfer GPA was 3.72 when I submitted my updated grades, and received As in my winter intercession classes. I replied to a message from admissions clearing up some stuff as well as telling them about my updated grades. I submitted an application for TAG but soon found out I didn’t qualified for it from UCI representatives. Learning about this just caused me to be even more distressed. I looked up the statistics for the 2018 UCI transfer rate and the average GPAs were about 3.4 - 3.75 for Criminology. I really want to get into UCI so please chance me and save me the burden of worrying too much… Thank you!!
tl;dr chance me
Criminology major → 3.72+ GPA
not TAGed
@applicann why didn’t you qualify for tag if ur gpa was above 3.7?
Did you miss some of the prereq courses for TAG?
@applicann you should be good with the gpa you have. Your personal insight questions are the breakthrough. I’m assuming. And you didn’t qualify for TAG? Why is that?
Criminology doesn’t require a lot of prerequisite courses. The only three for transfer are Stats101, Administration of Justice 1, and Psychology 1.
@applicann Just breathe. Things work out one way or other even if you didnt get in…
So from my previous experiences, Tag isn’t only a 3.4 cummulative gpa, but 3.4 for the fall, winter, and spring semester before you transfer. Even if you have a cumulative gpa higher than 3.4, if your fall or winter semester falls below this, you can be disqualified from tag. Hope this helped.
I thought it was the OVERALL GPA, not by semester. W/addition to finishing all the prereqs. for TAG.
@ComputerStudent @Xenomyte is correct. You have to maintain a 3.4 GPA for each subsequent semester as mentioned in the UC TAG Matrix.
“3.4 for all UC transferable coursework. GPA requirement must be met by end of summer 2018, and for each subsequent term.”

I messaged UCI admissions a while back and they just said to have an overall of 3.4. So if you get a 3.0 in the Spring quarter it doesn’t matter as long as overall is 3.4.
Yea. I’m pretty it’s overall gpa of 3.4. It wouldn’t make sense for someone to get 4.0 all terms and get 3.0 one term and have their tag get disqualified. Their overall gpa would still be like ~3.8 which is super good lol.
Yeah, I am pretty sure it is just the overall GPA.
“Earn a minimum GPA of 3.4 in all UC transferable coursework by the end of the summer 2019 term for fall 2020 admission and will maintain a 3.4 GPA in all UC transferable coursework for ALL subsequent terms“
I want to know exactly where does it say each term? Here is the link

I remember speaking to a UCI Evaluation Counselor who came to our CC during the application season. She said you just need to have 3.4 UC Transferrable GPA aside from all other requirements.
Emailed a uci transfer admissions counselor a while back, and here is his response,”…to qualify for TAG an overall GPA of a 3.4 must been earned by the end of summer 2018. After applying for your respected TAG, your overall GPA must be maintained for each semester or quarter depending on your schools governed system”
This is a snippet of the email, I am willing to clear anything that might be confusing! Trust me I was asking the same questions before applying for Tag!
Okay, for all of those who wonder, I found out that you need an overall GPA of 3.4 or above for all the UC transferable courses, not 3.4 or above GPA for each semester.
If you scroll down and read the @darkarchang3l comment,
“that’s interesting… I got a 3.2 (3 B’s ( 4 unit, 3 unit, 4 unit) and an A (3 unit) for my fall semester but 3.67 uc transferable overall gpa but I got accepted through TAG in mid-March”
as per him, he got in with tag for fall 2017 even when he had a 3.2 GPA for the fall semester but 3.67 overall GPA.
Also, this confusion had been there for a long time and I found some thread that had discussed this, so far most people say its the overall GPA that matters and not the semester GPA.

@Ohm888 sorry to tag you, however, what do you think about this?
if lets say you were to keep a 3.4 for each semester, would that include short semesters like summer? so if I took one class over summer and got a B that would make my tag void??
Sorry all, I was mistaken. You have to maintain an OVERALL GPA of 3.4 for each subsequent semester. It is not for EVERY semester. Apologies.
