Apologies accepted
GPA calculation is cumulative.
@C105213 @mmmmms @jeetusSwo @kristinpete @Xenomyte Hey everyone, thanks for replying! I didn’t qualify for TAG because some classes I took in the beginning of college weren’t UC transferrable. This caused me to have less units that was required for TAG at the end of the summer 2018 term. I finished all my prerequisites before the TAU period so all that’s left is completing the 60 units requirements. My personal insight questions were ok so I was really hoping my GPA would help me out. Not being TAG sucked because I did everything right besides taking UC non-transferrable courses.
@applicann How did you know that some of the classes you took in the beginning of college aren’t UC transferable? Where did you take these classes?
Hi Everyone, I need a bit of guidance. I doubt I’ll get into UCI with my current GPA so I’ve made a plan.
My major is Psychology and I have a 3.17 in UC transferable units according to TAP. After this semester of 16 UC transferable classes along with a four-unit summer course, I would be just over the minimum to tag UCI at a 3.42. But once I reach this point I would have 86 units. Does UCI only count it’s UC transferable units, or would it be cumulative GPA, because then I would be way over the high unit limits and admission policy for UCI which is 90 semester/135 credit units or more. If UCI doesn’t accept me I would have to wait a whole year to TAG them. I plan on working to save money and help take care of my dad who has a terminal illness. Would me not being technically a CCC student at the time that I apply for tag and admission jeopardize my chance of admission?
@liberalhippie I’m pretty sure that if you have taken all the units at a CC, it doesn’t matter how many units you take. You will receive unit credit up to a cap but having more doesn’t affect your admission. However, if some of these units were taken at a non-CC, then it might matter.
Look here http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/tag-matrix.pdf
First, they only count transferable. Second, as long as all courses are from a two-year college (CC) or are lower division from a 4-year (meaning freshman, sophomore level), you will not go over the caps. The UC will just give you subject credit for the courses and transfer 70 units. So even if you have 130 units, if they’re all lower division, they’ll cap it at 70.
Does UCI drop results the midnight tonight?
@galvingr probably not. I’m not even sure if it will drop tomorrow. If it does, it will probably be around mid-day
I reallyyyy hope we hear back this week!!
Business Econ - 3.7 GPA
Stressed out of my mind rn…
what day of the week do they usually release decisions? how likely is it that well find out tomorrow I’m getting impatient
@mmmmms i dont think tmrw tbh
I don’t think we should get our hopes up for tomorrow.
when do you think we should expect it then
Does anyone know if it’s going to be rolling admissions or if they drop decisions on a particular day?
decisions are probably going to be up in two weeks
People here have been saying they’ve had a record number of applicants so they might release later than in previous years. Also, it’s just been dead on their end…it seems they would have posted something on twitter or wherever to hint at a release…
Hopefully I’m wrong.
It would be funny if decisions were posted directly after this comment at midnight.
@kristinpete Why does admissions have to be like this, why cant they just tell us a specific date for whatever major we are or something
@brandonf12 I know…it’s hard waiting. I’m sure the admissions office is just a disorganized mess at this time of year and they really don’t know when they’ll have them finished. If they set a date, they’d probably struggle to meet that deadline and would get more criticism than they do now for the delay.
