@StudentAgain I applied to UCB and UCLA. I was waitlisted at UCSB
Choice order: UCI, UCLA, UCSB, UCB, UCSD (I think? I may have put UCB pretty far down because I knew it would be difficult for me to move that far at my age and life situation… plus, I honestly figured it a long shot with my GPA).
I would be shocked if I got into UCB or UCLA, but…essays and EC CARRY ME THROUGH.
Honestly, UCI makes the most sense for me, since I live in Orange County, but UCLA is closer to my family. Anything outside of UCI would require me to move and compete for family housing (I live with my long term BF).
I think if I got into either UCLA or UCB I’d have to SERIOUSLY consider them. But it would require a drastic life change. UCSD was more of a back up for me as it was the next closest to me. What about you? What were your choice order and major?
Can anyone help me understand this email…received it from UCI CHP just minutes ago.
I’m an H2H non-tag applicant who hasnt heard back so I called CHP and admissions to check on my status…got this response:
“Thank you for your interest in the Campuswide Honors Program, and congratulations on your UCI acceptance!
This email is In response to your phone call regarding your CHP status. According to UCI Admissions, your application is currently under review.”
they congratulated me on my UCI acceptance but then says its still under review…??
@whostolemycookie I think it means that they’re accepting you to UCI, but they’re reviewing your acceptance to Honors

@whostolemycookie If I were to receive that email I would contact admissions and let them know that I received a email from CHP congratulating me on my admissions however my portal has no updates.
@misseskite my order of preference is similar to yours: UCLA, UCI, UCSB, UCB, UCSD. My top choice is UCLA because I’m local to LA and wouldn’t have to move and deal with looking for housing options. I put UCB far down because I don’t want to move that far but I still wanted to see if I could get in.
I feel the same way. I think my essays and ec’s really provide a lot of context to my application.
I also have a long term boyfriend and I’m wondering if we could get family housing through the university only if we were married or would a long-term relationship still qualify…he has a daughter as well who he has full custody of.
I’m majoring in Comparative Literature which both have great programs at Berkeley and LA but I’d much prefer LA. I’d SIR in a heartbeat. I’ve heard LA has a good transfer community. I also saw UCI has nice housing options for family and afterschool programs for school age children as well.
I’m glad Berkeley and LA really emphasize a holistic review. I think we have a different perspective and a lot to offer to these schools.

@StudentAgain I actually got info from UCSB; after being waitlisted I was SURE I wasn’t going to get into any other schools as UCSB was TAGable for me, I just missed the deadline.
They have whats called an afadavit of domestic partnership. You basically have to sign that, and provide pictures of you guys with family, utility bills or any kind of shared bills. I don’t have that as my BF and I don’t live together presently (he lives less than a mile away with family). So we would have to rely on pictures, and things like that. You sound like you’d be a shoe in candidate for family housing! Definitely apply!
Is there a UCI 2019 Transfers page? I want to live at VDC but I want to seek out roommate options before I choose randoms… Or if you need a roommate let me know!! I am a female and looking to live with other females!
