UCI Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Also a pending applicant here.
No Tag
Major: EE
GPA: 3.22

@rsandan Same. I was on last years thread and a lot of CS majors didn’t find out until like April 26-27 and most of them got wait listed.

I totally agree. If all reqs and gpa are met and it is a TAG it should be pretty straight forward. I do not fully understand the waiting game.

@sleepypolarbear Mood.

Haven’t heard at all from UCI. Checking the portal nonstop, no update. Major is social policy with 3.29 no tag. Safe to say got rejected?

@Mandop Based on past year threads, from this point on, it will be mostly rejections, some waitlist, and very few acceptances.

Yeaup, brace for rejections guys.

Status: Pending
Major: Biological Sciences
Major Pre-Reqs: done by the end spring quarter
UC to UC transfer (from UCR)
UC GPA: 3.95 (without winter quarter grades)
Also Applying: UCLA
eC: research, summer-time worker

Honestly, a handful of people got admitted on the 4th Wednesday of April (same time as UCLA’s release) so I wouldn’t be surprised if UCI does the same this year.

Biological Sciences
Major Pre Reqs: Missing Ochem
GPA: 3.5
Applied: UCR , UCSD, UCLA, UCI, UCSB
Accepted: UCR
Pending: The rest

Non traditional , 25 yrs old.

EC: Military, shadowed various surgeons, research

At this point I don’t know what to think…

@jbravomed Biochem here…
are you missing both Ochem? or just Ochem II

@jbravomed Have you looked at assist.org? It will usually give you a pretty good idea of your chances based on the prereqs you’ve done/what the school requires. Some schools look at prereqs first, GPA second and some do it the other way around. Some schools are more lenient about missing courses (although it also varies by major).

@cloud7 that makes me feel a little better. Psych doesn’t have pre reqs but I took ALL the recommended courses! 3.28 psych major!

@AeroDE yeah missing both ochem , courses completed ( GenBio / Gen Chem / Physics / Stats / Genetics ), I have seen so many friends of mine get into ucsd / ucla / uci without ochem and physics, assuming luck was just on their side.

@cloud7 yes I used assist

I have all of my prereqs completed (even As in O Chem) except I need the last quarter of physics in the summer. But every school I called acted like they didn’t care about it for admissions purposes.

@JustTakeMe I’m not TAG but do some of you TAG applicants think they might not hold their end of the deal? Might they say they accidentally tagged too many students?

I mean, in last year’s thread there were indeed a few more acceptances after the first admitted wave, but it was literally just a handful.

Im a cs tag and that was what I was thinking too. I really hope that is not the case and they will do something different about it next year because it isn’t fair for us tag applicants right now.

UCI has realized that TAG is problematic because this is the last year they are offering it to any major in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences

It is not fair for them to thanos snap the rest of us though when we meet the requirements as well.

When I met with a UCI rep last year, he said that UCI won’t reject your TAG as long as you did nothing wrong. So if you have the 60-semester units, 3.4 gpa, completed all the major prereqs, etc you should not worry. I remember asking if they did void tags. He did say that people voided their tag because their major listed for TAG was different than the major listed for the general application.
